Thanks for the help . scum_1 Ok I'll try using that program to change avis to dvd . See if I can get that to work, How did you make a menu for the episodes? So that I can choose which episode to jump to. I have PLENTY of tv shows to burn . So this could be helpful .

Thanks again and for any future help.

encore lets you design your menu and navigation from
the ground up or you can use some of there templates

OK, I hate being so pesky, and so stupid. But one more ( and hopefully last ) question.

I have a .img DVD-R that I want to burn. Do I just burn it as an image( just like a bin/cue) or is there a different procedure for dvds?

Yes it is just an image file so you burn in the same way you would do .cue & .bin.

I have DVD+R disc and DVD-R blank recordable discs. If anybody has a free program that i can download on the internet and can describe to me how to burn my avi format movie into a DVD on that program then please write back. thanx

    Thanks scum1, I'll give it a shot.

Do all dvd players play dvd-rs? Or is it like svcd's only certain players play them.

Because I burned a dvd, and it worked fine on my dvd player, but my parents player said disc error.

But anyway, I'm sure I can figure that out. But I will give the menu making a shot Thanks for all your guys help.

    What a great forum:)

Unfortunately not all DVD players can play DVD-R and some that do can be very fussy about what media is used.

All you can do is try differnet media or confirm with the manufacturer of the DVD player to see whether DVD-R is officially supported.

I have to agree with Maven...I burn my personal DVDs on Inteso or Optodisk DVD+R media and they play fine in my cheap $15 DVD player. For my mom's JVC DVD player, I have to burn to Maxell or Memorex DVD+Rs. Seems like, in general, the more high-end the DVD player is, the better media you have to use.

Also, you could try burning at 1x speed to see if that might make a difference. It sometimes seems like the slower the speed, the better it burns.

    hi,

I've read the above threads but still not sure what to do about the problem I have.

I have recently converted 6 episodes of a sitcom (avi files) to VOB files that I want to burn to dvd to watch on a dvd stand alone player. I would also like to add a menu so that I can select the episode I want to watch.

What is the best freeware to use to achieve this? I've already had a 30 day free trial period with TMPGenc so I can't use that again and my version of Nero (nero 6 ultra version) doesn't seem to recognise VOB files.

Thanks for any and all advice,

    Cheers

I have done the same with all the Lost episodes, I get 3 per DVD, nice menus, chapter selections and all

If you want to know how I did it, it wasn't too hard, but maybe you already have enough info

OK, I just got another dvd. AUdio_ts and video_ts, came in an .img file. So , I burned the IMG file but when I went to play it it was really screwed up, color was distorted and was out of focus, and only lasted like 50 seconds then turned off.

So, I don't know if I did something wrong or if the file is corrupted. Anything else I can do? This is the first time i've burned an audio_ts and video_ts :(

EDIT: Now I get an error when I try to burn a dvd . Tried 2 different movies, and it says that the .bup's don't match up to the .ifo's
