I don't think it's possible to really optimize PC for Minecraft. It has tendency to lag even on very powerful computers. I'm talking about modpacks of cause. Vanila minecraft should be ok on your configuration. By the wat it uses most CPU and RAM. Myself I use about 6 gb for heavy modpacks.

The first thing you should do is look at your hardware, or to be more specific, the CPU and graphics card. In recent test with all things the same, Windows 7 outperformed Windows 10. So if you need assistance then you're going to have to provide forum members with your PC specs.

    Update your graphics drivers
Give your GPU a slight overclock
Boost your PC with an optimization tool
Upgrade your graphics card to a newer model
Switch out that old HDD and get yourself an SSD
    Turn off Superfetch and Prefetch
Defrag & TRIM your hard disk for faster access
Tweak your Intel, AMD or NVIDIA Control Panels

I agree with most of your post but with a minor exception. There is no benefit to defraging an SSD drive because it won't speed it up, but it will shorten its lifespan. Yes to defragging a traditional platter drive, because it will speed it up and extend its life.

Instead of defrag, he should use Windows Disk Cleanup and then do the Trim.

For a platter drive yes, and he should also defrag it, but not for a Solid State disc. Writing and deleting files will do the most harm, and defraging does both. It's best to just leave the files alone right where they are because fragmentation has no effect on SSDs. On a positive note, Solid State dives are fast, and can last for many years as storage if used for write once files.

Come on man why does it matter? Two recent older posts that were responded to got a response from the OP. When you add a new response it will cause Google spider bots to crawl it. This will in turn be picked up on a Google search and bring people to the forum who're searching a similar issue. If I see an older unresolved post made in the last few years with incomplete information I will fill it. If it bothers you then ignore it and move on, because not to be insulting, but it really isn't any of your business.
