If you were able to burn the cd from that computer, it's probably ok to run it..
The only thing I was concerned about was your MBR boot record. Does it boot and load the windows OK? If it boots ok then it's your choice.. If I had trouble with it booting, I'd run it....

Edit I decided to skip the otl fix for the moment and see how you are running and if you have any problems please let me know..

Hi 2oG, sorry for the slow reply, it's been one of those days. I haven't had a chance to make a rescue disk from a different machine yet. Not enough hours in the day.
However I had no trouble at all making one with this machine. My comp boots just fine, never had trouble in that area. I'll boot up from the rescue disk if you want. Unless you have a different idea.
Honestly it's been running fine, not sure for how long, but so far so good.
Let me know what your thinking, thanks again.

Yeah, I know what you mean about one of those days. me too

I wouldn't worry about doing anything else if it seems to be running ok without errors.
Just let it be for a few days and if no problems show up skip the rescue. If it does give problems, you can always run it. Then give me a shout on here...

    Happy Computing,
    2oG

    Hi narcismo,
    As I said:
Since then, I have done some research and benefited from it. There is a lot of new malware out there and a few changes have been made to OTL that I was unaware off.

After finding out these things, I reviewed your OTL Log and discovered some things that really need to be fixed so they don’t come back to haunt you.

As I stated before, please run the Avira Rescue Disk so it can repair your MBR (master boot record) per the instructions on the tutorial I had you download here -> http://forum.avira.com/wbb/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=82163

After that, post back to me the outcome and I will give you more instructions.

Like I said before I prefer all the machines I clean to be like an “Old maids parlor” that is, clean enough to eat off the floor. Lol

    Let me hear from you,
    2oG

    Hi 2oG,
Well I followed your instructions, unfortunately the rescue disc I made Freezes at about 3% of the self check portion. I tried running it twice....same thing both times. I guess the disc is corrupted. I'll Have to try making a new one from a clean machine. Crap!
BTW, I've been searching for my OS disc, and it's nowhere to be found. Figures. If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. LOL
I'll get on that rescue disc tomorrow. Thanks again.

I hear that on the "Luck"......
Have had my nose buried in a new OTL manual. Think I'm becoming brain dead cause it sure is deep for an old guy to comprehend some of this stuff after not keeping up for a long time. I feel like I'm back in one of my computer science classes about 50 years ago..lol
Anyway, I have picked out a couple of items in your otl log that I believe we should take care of but we can do that after you get your MBR back in good shape. You should be able to run the Recovery Disc because it runs from memory in a small linux boot system and doesn't depend on windows.
Just let me know when you get it and I will have some things to lay on you..

    Til then,
    2oG

Hey there 2oG, hope you had a great week. Well its been a few days, and I finally got a new rescue disc burned( from a diff machine). I ran again with the exact same results as before... No dice. Still freezes at 3% of the self check...but I'll try a diff machine again tomorrow. Other than that, it actually doesn't seem to to bad. I know its old, and the MBR is ravaged, but still not sure if its ready for a date with the dumpster. Anyway, gimmie a shout when your not busy. I'd deff appreciate it. Thanks

If it's running ok, don't worry about burning another disc. Just use it and if it does give you problems give me a shout and we can take care of it another way... If I remember correctly RogueKiller can repair a bad MBR.. You might run RogueKiller again and when it gets done look in the MBR tab and see if there is a fix in there. Try it or don't it's your choice as I always say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." LOL [IMG]

I'm retired and around most of the time so if you ever need some help or just wanna "chew the rag", give me a shout..

Oh yeah, do you know how many people live in China? Just go to a Chinese city and shout Fire! then you'll know what a Chinese Fire Drill looks like...[IMG]

Something to think about: What color does a smurf turn when you choke him? [IMG]

    Have a Happy,

Hey I don't have anything to do with this thread (in fact I don't know enough about anything to have any input anywhere on AfterDawn) but I just wanted to say that 2oldGeek, you might be the most helpful person I've ever (not exactly) met. Good on ya mate.
Hope all is well with your porn box Narcismo.
