Tell them that you were too drunk to see the traffic signal

You can say your civil rights were violated.
Look for defects in the photo.
Fight the yellow light being too short.

They had red light cams in my town for a while too. The fine was not legal here in the state because they couldn't prove who was driving the car, just that the car passed the light. In one instance a lady recieved a ticket for her plate on a truck that passed through the red light. She drove a Ford Festiva... LOL... Between that and the misappropriation of collected red light funds it forced the cameras to be deemed unconsitutional... so now we have a bunch of dead cameras that cost the state a fortune sitting at major intersections...

Anyways, it was not considered a moving violation because it was not proveable that you were driving, so there was no insurance issues or license points. Also, if you took it to court and demanded to face your accuser, they dropped the charge. By law, you are afforded the right to face your accuser or have the charges dropped... The camera could not testify it was you driving, so the charges had to be dropped. Not sure how it works in Arizona though, so that might not fly there... but it worked here.

Ok,lets pretend all the cameras arent used for traffic tickets aymore because you cant proove the driver.
Do you think the cameras will go unmonitored? No, they just cant use the picture in a traffic violation. A way for the powers that be to slip "big brother" around our constitutional laws. More cameras on more corners.

This is what gets me! This is what my ticket states,

This violation was not committed in my presence. The above is declared on information and belief and is based on photographic evidence. I declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Arizona, that the is true and correct.

my alleged speed is 37 which tells me they don't know and the alleged violation is Failure to Stop/Remain Stopped for Red Signal/Photo Red Light. I know I did not run this red light and I know I was in the intersection when it was still yellow.

My Declarant has no name? just a squiggly line....how funny.

Oh and get this, now I receive junk mail telling me how to beat red light and photo radar viloations. How do these people know i received a ticket unless the state sold my information to these people.

It is public record actually, they sold nothing.

They usually have weight sensors set at the intersection (look for what appear to be expansion joints in the pavement that seem to just end right in the middle of the road), and they have a picture of you entering the intersection as the light is red. My wife got one here (on her birthday no less :) ).

Again, you have the right to face your accusor. I suspect you should look at local law to determine the validity of the arguement we used here. If you can't face the accusor, they have to drop the charges.

Hmm i love were i live. They have to actualy catch you and pull you over to give you the ticket. So the way i see i dont get caught i dont get fined and i di nothing wrong. No cameras to say i did it or not :)

In some states, you don't have to be the one actually driving the car. It's your car and registered to you so the state determines that you are responsible for your vehicle, regardless of who was driving. I got one of these when I was living in Germany in the mid-80's. The picture showed the rear of the car with the tag clearly visibile, the date, time, and speed was shown with a red arrow against a speedometer. Paid it through the Post Office (yep, the PO) and it cost me 10 duetschmarks, which at that time was about $4.00.

    Maybe....

It wasn't RED, it was still yellow.

I didn't ask for sympathy from anyone and I feel (in Arizona) that this is just a lame money maker scam by the state and sorry for your loss.

If Arizona runs the traffic light game the same way that California dies . . Lockheed Martin is who makes all the money . . the lights are not installed and regulated by the state but by a company who refused to sell the equipment . .

Hi all. I am just jumping in here, being from Cali and all. When you get a redlight ticket here, you get 3 pics. 1st shows your vehicle in the crosswalk and a redlight, 2nd shows your vehicle plate close-up and the redlight, 3rd shows front view of you driving and you know you are screwed. Cost about $380.00 first time and goes on your record, but you can take the driving class and go clean.
