THAT IS MORE THAN LIKELY AN '04 W/HACK DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO HACK FOR THE '05 AND THE MACROVISION WILL PREVENT RECORDING OF PROTECTED MATERIAL.
Hi All, I have used the IMPEGA make DVD+R Discs. I have succesfully burned over 12 DVD's using this make and extremely happy with the results. Tip: I press the REC button 3 Times, on the screen I see a 90 min rec time. This prevents bad discs or coasters. Then I fianlise the DVD's. Question for anyone. As I live in the UK, I would now like to copy my VHS tapes to DVD. As the UK standard is PAL and NOT NTSC, has anyone got any ideas for me to get my VHS tapes on DVD using the ILOR05 Player. Any comments/suggested appreciated. Also is there anyway I can change the default Region Code on the ILOR05 as all my DVD's are European region. If I try to play my DVD's purchased in the UK I get an error saying wrong region. The ILOR05 has the done the job, I have succesfully copied all my Hi-8 tapes onto DVD. The Camcorder was originally purchased in the USA, hence I had to purchase ILOR05. For the price the ILO its great. NKM
take the camcorder and tranfer the vhs too Hi-8 tapes then tranfer it too dvd rw and then edit the dvd
Sorry to be out of sequence, but I wanted to report on my experiences with the Lite-On 5104. I had asked about it before(above), and finally contacted the comnpany. They told me it was a bad drive, and to exchange it, which I did. I am thoroughly pleased with this new machine! It has none of the problems described by many of the ILO or the Cyberhome, and I have found no flaws to date. It plays anything, and seems to record anything! If I finalize the disc, it plays on my overly-sensitive stand-alone Samsung combo, which usually is VERY choosy. It can record 2,4,or 6 hours, where my PC can only do 2hr discs, like commercial ones. If I tape on "LP", I cannot notice much difference in quality, and can get three movies on one disk, which play on stand-alones. I would certainly recommend it. I hope "Armywife" is still having good fortune with the Emerson. Jim
I was using Maxell dvd+rw and am trying to expariment with other brands, so I bought some memorex dvd+r's X8 and the first one out of the package I get a Baddisk error, I read the inside of the packaging and I read that they recommend that I get a firmware upgrade I assume because they are x8 speed. Now I was under the impression that there was no firmware upgrade for this product..... Has that changed? and where can I get one.
I accidentially bought 50 Memorex 16x discs and had used 5 on my 05 before I noticed my mistake, and have since done 30 good recordings in a row with no coasters and without any software upgrades. (knock on wood)
my only real annoyance with this unit other than the fact that the discs will not play properly in my computer dvd players, is that about once a day it turns itself on and displays "no disc" on the unit. I have a directivo, is it possible that the directivo remote is turning the unit on or is there a flaw in some of these machines that let them turn themselves on like that>
Nope, that is one of my only real complaints as well, a couple times a day my recorder will randomly turn itself on...... My other real complaint is the lack of compatible dvd brands that work in my unit...... And why a type and brand of dvd that was working so well is nolonger working at all.... I am getting to the point where I am thinking of trying to return it to my local walmart. Though I bought it about 3 or 4 months ago. I only hope they will take it back.
wow my ilo is a dream come true i've had it for 3 months now with no problems at all...it plays sony fuji & maxell discs i put in it
It's a piece of crap, don't buy it. For the record DVDR05 MU. Does NOT *play* commercial DVD. Overheats at room temprature. Skips on recording. Upgrading using 'official' firmware voids your warranty - unless you're told to. Misses programs recorded back to back. (8am - 8:30am, 8:30am - 9am) almost always misses the second show. Firmware upgrade fixed this, but still skip when you record. Do not buy this, do not think about buying it tell your friends not to buy it. Tell your family not to buy it. Go to as many forums you can after buying it, and tell them how utterly discontent you are for buying it. Seriously ... If I had my $100 back, I would burn it in an ashtray and get more use out of it than this thing has given me. It's pathetic. You have to press input 3 times to get to the tuner. It's not smart enough to know hey if I'm looking at the title, and I'm not playing, then maybe I need to be on the last input device. I'm on a mission to warn everyone I can not to buy this thing. Sometimes a cheap product will out preform an expensive one. In this case ... keep your vcr. It's better much better than this thing. Erm
I wonder if that is the difference between the MU and ZU, mine is a ZU and for the most part it has been a good machine, with the exceptions listed in my previous posts........ Maybe the ZU is a updated version of the 05, but since I don t know much about such things, it is just a guess.
[bold]You have to press input 3 times to get to the tuner. It's not smart enough to know hey if I'm looking at the title, and I'm not playing, then maybe I need to be on the last input device. [/bold] I found if you press left arrow once it will take you to the tuner choice when setting up to record if that is what you mean
Im not sure what is being talked about here, Mine has a "source" button, and pressing it once does the trick if I want to get to the tuner......
Do you have an 04 or a 05? On my 05 when I press source it displays all the different sources that the imput to record can come from. I think there are 5 different without looking. You can either press the right arrow 4 or 5 (which ever many there actually are) times to get to tuner which is all the way to the right, or simply press left arrow once and it will highlight tuner
DVDR05MU Trust me I've played with it. It's left/right 3 times to get to the tuner, or the source button 3 times. It doesn't matter. Left once for me on the 'source' screen is svideo. I really, really don't like this thing. I would return it if I still had the receipt. I keep hoping ... maybe the next firmware update will fix it. Periodically going back to the site. It just doesn't work right, never has. I've even removed the cover to the drawer to let that extra little bit of heat out of the unit. Hoping maybe this will help. I've even put it on 'stilts.' I've cleaned the lens with a dvd lens cleaner, seriously my 4-5 year old vcr does a better job recording than this thing.
Love your stilts, I thought I was the only one to come up with them Seriously, these are an entry level machine, and for the price if they half way work right they are not that bad. I am sorry to see you having the troubles that you are.
I can kind of see his point though, I mean yeah $100.00 is a very low price for one of these machines, but come on, $100.00 is still alot of money, it seems to me that the machine should work right, straight out of the box. But dont let my ramblings fool, I have gripes about the machine, but it does work for me......
