They have the right to use the service that there paying for on as meny pc's as they want. Sure bb can cost alot a year but there are places out there were it's dirt cheap. At the end of the day do as you want but remember the risks.

An attitude like that really annoys me (sorry for being blunt).

Geeze, and you are the only one who has hard times then are you?

Man, I work dam hard for my money, and I spend it on my little pleasures, if you can't afford it - do something about it, if you want to do something that lies close to being illegal, so be it.
But don't come on with the guilt trip, what about people in Ethiopia and other third world countries..............count yourself lucky you are earning at all..........................

Good job you are not nicking my bandwidth, thats all I can say......you wouldn't be pinching it for long...................

Again, I agree with baabaa. If you are having a tough go at it, which I have had, the past year, then live without the broadband.

Dlocke, if you were stealing my connection, and I found out about it, living with your tough times would be the least of your worries.

    Thats a pretty good article

30K a year.. Thats not dirt poor I know a lot of people that make less and they still aren't thiefs. A thief is thief no matter which way you try to slice it. If your hurting that bad for money sell your computer it is a luxery not a neccesity! I'm sorry but your little sob story isn't going to work here buddy.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Florida police have arrested a man for using someone else's wireless Internet network.

    SURVEY
If you use Wi-Fi in your home, do you turn on the security features?
    Yes
    Tried, wouldn't work
    No
    Don't know

In one of the first criminal cases involving the fairly common practice, Benjamin Smith faces felony charges of unauthorized access to a computer network.
Police told the St. Petersburg Times that Smith admitted using the Wi-Fi signal from the home of Richard Dinon, who had noticed Smith sitting in an SUV outside Dinon's house using a laptop computer.
Experts say illegal use of unsecured Wi-Fi networks often goes undetected, such as people sneaking onto others' networks to traffic in child pornography, steal credit card information and send death threats.
Security experts say people can prevent such access by turning on encryption or requiring passwords.
But few with wireless networks either know how to do that -- or don't bother to.
Wi-Fi, short for Wireless Fidelity, has enjoyed prolific growth since 2000.
Millions of households have set up wireless home networks that allow people to use the Web from their back yards but also reach the house next door or down the street.

I'm an ex- mechanical engineer of 17 odd yrs, now a humble driver for Royal Mail on about £16K. I had my '98 GSXR-750 stolen a couple of years ago. If you take something that you are not entitled to....well, guess what......

I really don't agree with what dlocke is doing, wait till your in a better finacial position and do it legal like .....what your wife and kid gonna do if you get busted for this ??
unauthorized access to a computer network, is a felony which makes it illegal, which = criminal record/pos jail time/loss of job ... got to think is it really worth it....

Why not make your own cantenna? I made my own parabolic reflector for my Wrt54g and gained another 40-60 ft through several walls. Like BaaBaa said though not sure it will work for receiving. You could always get some cat-5 and move the unit closer to the victim's house. Here's some links for homemade (c)antennas:

I'm not saying I agree with what your doing, but it's your choice. For anyone interested if anyone's stealing their bandwith check out Airsnare:

I caught my buddies little brother stumbling for hot-spots in my front yard with his PSP.
