I did notice with SpySweeper is that it doesn't automatically sweep through system restore files on Windows ME and XP. You have to deselct the option for it to be enabled. Seemed odd to me as that is an area that alot of bugs tend to hide in. I use Ad-Aware, SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor and System Mechanic and they all find something different.
Yeah never heard of Xoft Spy, but glad it works for you. Mcafee is okay, but the real time spy protection is worthless. Mcafee AV is good though. Javacool Spyware blaster works great. I love Spy Sweeper and Ad-aware plus. Spy Sweeper is $30 but worth every penny. I also locked down my IE browser and only run scripts off certain sites. That greatly reduces the instances of pop ups and spyware. I settled on a combo of SpySweeper, Spybot, Ad-aware, and Spyware Doctor.
I have mcaffe, adaware pro, spybot, webroot, and many others but i prefer XoftSpy over all of these. I used to get many errors on several different programs. But after i Ran XoftSpy, it stopped (especially that one from Limewire). (i uninstalled that useless aol spyware thing, it just takes up resources)
Yeah, you can pick up XoftSpy here: http://www.download.com/XoftSpy/3000-8022_4-10414709.html?tag=lst-0-1 It's 40 bucks to buy but i think it's worth it.
Yeah my friends all think I'm paranoid. But if they've seen what malware can do to an unprotected system, they'd shell out some money for some good AV and anti-spy utilties. What AV do you use?
