pms sent to obeone/keitho22/allreal82/utdtmg/power2614 . for newbies you will need at least 1 cable to hook your laptop up to your tv. if its a brand new tv chances are it has a hdmi connection(check to see if your laptop also has a hdmi connection)if it has you can get both audio and video to your tv via 1 cable. you can also use a vga cable(vga will only give you video, another cable is needed for audio)you should have a vga connection on your laptop(it is a 15 pin connection)of course you also need a vga connection on your tv.you can also use the svideo connection on your laptop, connected to an svideo connection on your tv(this is called an svideo cable)svideo is a small round connection.it should be obvious that hdmi would give you the best picture quality(the cable used depends on your tv,if you dont have any of the above connections on your tv then you cant view your laptop through your tv). for audio if you use hdmi 1 cable will give both audio and video, but for vga and svideo you need a second cable (it depends on the connections on your tv as to which audio cable to use). you can use a double phono to single jack cable(the single jack plugs in to your earphone socket on your laptop and the phono ends into your left and right phono sockets on your tv. or if your tv is new enough a jack to jack cable(again 1 end of the jack in to your earphone socket and the other into the jack socket on your tv(be sure to check and double check all your tv and laptop connections before buying any cables). the next stage is you need to download and install video players to be able to view the football or movies on your tv(you wont need video players for all tv links) i would say download and install sopcast/divx/tvu video players and you will be covered for a large majority of tv links.you only need to download them once.when using hdmi and vga cables the video should go straight to the tv screen(you will find the picture on av1 or av2 etc)for svideo you may need to change an av setting from video to svideo on your tv as the picture will be in black and white.
guys sent pms to creanstar/farhic7/sancho17. it is important to note that the quality you get on internet tv depends as lot on your internet speed,a broadband connection is needed and a fast as possible an internet speed,i find a landline is best for this.some links will display a figure next them this is a bit rate(the higher the bit rate is usually meaning the better quality on the channel)but you can get good quality on channels with a lower bit rate.some channels have to load and take a minute or two but will take a lot longer if you have a slower internet speed and the quality of your viewing may be affected.
