I have both the 3.07 and the 3.11 versions of MPT. The 3.07 installs fine w/o any issues but the 3.11 has some weird key error at the very end of installing, although after clicking Ignore it seems to finish fine and I can start it. My question: Is there a major difference between the 3.07 and 3.11 versions and is my v551 compatable w/ the 3.07 version? Thanks

Oh and by the way, what exactly is P2K? Is it just a driver for the phone or what? Will MPT not work correctly without the P2K drivers or something? (I have WinXP SP2)

SuperX, are you allowing the LiveUpdate feature to update your software or are you manually doing it?

I don't really know what P2K is either. I think it's a small file that allows you make system changes on your phone, like deleting locked ringtones and stuff that are factory installed and that you never use. It's a way to free up extra memory. Beyond that I haven't a clue.

[bold] I have tried installing mobile Phone Tools 1.23c. It gets almost done then I get this error.

    Error# 0x80040707
    DLL function call crashed. Pbkinstall._GetBookNames[/bold/]

I have since installed 3.11h but this doesnt sync with outlook, any superstars out there have a fix??

    Hi everyone -

Well I downloaded the MPT 3.11h (via the links on this thread) and it works just fine with my Motorola V3. Correct phone skin, syncs ok and down/uploads MP3s etc.(connected motorola modem to COMM 3)

BUT - the MPT install has knocked out my existing Bluetooth software (Widcomm 1.3.2.7) that took me 3 days to get working (PC to headset)- now I cannot attach a device and I get error message 'unable to start Bluetooth stack service'.

Does any one have any ideas (get one thing working and another packs up - madness)

Now I could not get [bold]3.11h[/bold] to work, it also knocked out my bluetooth adapter but the following worked great!!
    [bold]
Install MPT lite (as provided with phone)
    Do not start the software
Install 2.21b_US (links to this can be found everywhere on this site!)
Click on live update & take all available up to 3.16e
    Reboot about 2-3 times....
    [/bold]

And wayhay you are off and running, with blue tooth intact (although it had an issue with my ports!!

However software still sucks compared to Sony Ericsson and if I had actually had to pay for it i would have been pissed!

Intersting ! ---- Did you have the Bluetooth software/dongle installed and working first- and then installed the MPT Lite etc.

The only reason I did not install the MPT Lite provided with the phone (on disc)was that I had to abort the installation - THEN when I tried the installation again from the disc, the install program failed to work - just threw up an error report. Funny thing was that it would start to install if I choose another language (eg German)- not much use though. SO I can't use the disk. -- Could try to download the 'MPT lite' program from the web --- going round in circles here -- ARHHHH

Had the belkin dongle installed and working perfectly with prior to 3.11h installation.

After installation had to remove it totally and reinstall the BT driver just to make it work again....

Never had a problem installing the V3 lite at all

OK, here's how I got it working.
Installed WIDCOMM 1.3.x (the only available for my usb BT). Did update of driver for the Generic Bluetooth Radio, selected the CSR USB Bluetooth Device. (This completely removed the Microsoft Enumerator and the MS BT icon from tray).
    Uninstalled all vers of MPT.
Download "Motorola Mobile Phone Tools 3.rar" from edonkey. It contains MPT 3.07a.
Run LiveUpdate, update to 3.19e. (This was somewhat difficult because it kept timing out. Turned out my provider couldnt route to bvrpsoftware01.ikoula.com which is where the updates are served from. I connected using a different provider and it worked)

Procced as usual. It detected the phone and works fine from then on.
    Hope this works for others.
    Good luck.

P.S. If while messing with MTP you get a message "Could not load BlueTooth Stack Server" after a reboot, it is because MTP replaced file c:\windows\system32\wbtapi.dll. You can go to safemode and replace it with the proper file if you got one. I dont think ver 3.19a does this, but 3.11h did this for sure.
