    I need help, too!

Okay... I have an mp4 player, it's one I got free from HSBC for opening a student account. I can convert my videos just fine, the converter came with the player. However, once I DO convert my files to .amv and try to put them on my player, it says that it doesn't support the file type. But that's the only type that DOES work, isn't it? It says to use Windows Media Player to convert it into a file that would work, but WMP doesn't recognise .amv files! I'm so confused. :( ...Can anyone help? lol

Er...hehe *rubs head sheepishly* Ignore that last comment! Just figured it out. Turns out I was trying to put the video in the wrong folder. I was meant to put the video files in the "data" folder instead of the "music" one. Easy mistake to make... I didn't know the data folder was for music videos! ...I'll just go now...

I hope it's not 2 late, but the solutions that you have received are workarounds. this is the real mccoy:

    using winxp

    1. download cole2k codoec pack at www.cole2k.net/?display=Codec-Pack-Advanced

    2. install (include ALL XVID options)

    3. your mp4 files will now have a cole2k icon

    4. right-click on an mp4 file and choose open (or open with, if you previously associated this extension to some program)

    5. choose windows media player

    6. wmp will say that it does not recognize the extension and ask if want to go ahead (click YES)

    7. the file SHOULD play (next time you go in, click the box for wmp NOT to verify this extension in the future)

codec packs that work for various file types: cole2k and ffdshow. for AVI files, download gspot (it will inform what codec was used - but only for AVI).

    enjoy!!!

well boozer, try finding out the make and model of your mp4 player. then goto www.driverguide.com and click on driver search. it will ask for a password:

    username DRIVERS
    password ALL

then try informing your make and model. oh, and by the way, there's this fantastic new site called google (LOL), where you can try the expression:

driver download and the model of your mp4

sorry for the joke. i'll lose a friend, but i won't miss the opportunity for kidding around.

good luck 2 u. and if u want to watch the mp4's on your pc, follow the instructions on my last post.

Hi, the conversion software you require can be downloaded from http://www.tronfy.com/techsupport/AMV(1.2'-1.5').zip.
I have also bought one of these players, the video works ok (considering the size of screen, but the player will only play maybe 5 tunes, once i skip past the 5th, the thing restarts - very annoying. Will continue to play with it and see if i can get it to work; if anyone has any suggestions, i would be keen to give them a try, cheers, fweall

I have the one from Ebay also, the 4gig one. It came with a note of warning and advice. There are 2 files on the software which can nacker up your player. The updater and another one.

The player came with files on to show that it works. a amv file 2 mp3 files a pic and a notepad file. So far so good, first i had installed the converter. The finished result on the pc playback were fine, however when i dragged it my mp4 player, the audio on the video file did'nt sound too good.

I tried this a few times with different video files same problem, sounds to me that the bit rate for the audio is wrong i don't know anyone any ideas? mp3's play fine.

For those with memory problems i had a mp3 flash player and i think when i formated it as you do with a floppy, that had broke it. Anyone can help with my issue please do its for my daughter as a stocking filler.

    Hi.
I recently got an mp3 player and it can play mp4 files. It was going fine when i was putting music on it but then it got to 124 songs and it said 'cannot copy "whatever song it was":the directory or file cannot be created.
So i tried with all the rest of my music and it wouldnt let me which is strange seeing as the memory is 4 GB. Can anyone help me...please??
    Thankyou
    Sorcha

I dont really know what your asking here? When you put mp4 video's on it are you converting them to amv, with the software For those who have problems with the audio on the video i have the puzzle. Change the chip type in programs mp4..... to 0. save when asked that is all. Why the hell the seller cant say that "you know what i'm thinking"

I too have bought one of htese players. I am not having trouble converting files but ran into a problem. On my Win98 machine I need a driver and the CD does not have it on it. It is for some photo software. Any idea on where I can obtain a driver for this generic player?
