    Thanks for your help animalz,

Just checked that site, but it says ...
"sadly the tools for extracting firmware do not work on 9.0.48 or 9.0.50 firmware"

So, my point of attack now is, can I redo the original firmware (?)

    Cheers,
    Divot Heid

Well it seems that I got a similar problem!
I'm searching for a program that will help me extract the firmware of my 4GB Mp4 player which came to be just 1GB after hardware checkup! I just read that if you do not format your player to it's real size, it'll sooner or later become a problem. In fact, i'd like to see the actual remaining size when i drag files on it. Here's my firmware:

    ACT2097_S72_1
    2006/04/25
    9.0.50
    2006/10/30

So when one of you guys have an answer, please share with us! :)

I am not savvy in tech stuff at all, but I know my way around a comp just fine. When I try to play mp4s (all other formats work) in either Quick Time or ITunes, I get a picture but no sound at all. The sound for any other program and/or audio/video format is great, just no sound for mp4s. As far as I know, I have any required codex.
Probably a simple problem located in a setting, but I'm lost. Can someone point me in the right direstion? Thank you. :)

I tried out this new MP4 player my bf got for me from china and I noticed that it only wants to play certain songs and it only hold 50 songs when it should hold about 500 songs. I have them in MP3 format and like I said some songs will work but others wont and these are the same songs I"ve had on it before.. is there something I am doing wrong?.. please help.. I'm ready to smash this thing on the floor. Thanks.. I need help ASAP!! I also tried using a converter from one of the websites listed and when I would load the video it would say format error.. is there a reason why its doing that?

I had the same problem but finaly figured it out. You need to use AMV converter 4.0 and put the settings at 160x120 ,this will automatically flip it the way you need. You can get 4.0 converter here: http://www.hk-star.com/amv.htm Hope this helps... -gary

OK I used the tool you said but when I was doing everything it didnt give me two drives it only gave me one.. the E drive and when I tried to change it to F it would go back to E.. so I followed the steps using the E drive and like I said there was only an E drive.. also when I was converting everything it only gave me about 233 MB of memory and the diagram said 1.90MB.. it looks to me like I was doing everything wrong but in fact I didnt.. I did everything like the instructions said but only got about 233 MB of memory.. someone please help me!!

Extremeley sorry to tell you this but your mp4 player is actually 256mb and whoever has sold it to you has scammed you and has given you a hacked player.

oooo wow I see.. I thought it said 2GB before I did all that stuff to it. It there a way to put memory on it?.. probably not but I'm hoping that there is a way to do that.. also, I noticed that whenn I tried to put certain videos it wont play. It'll start off playing and then stop.. any idea why its doing that?.. I tried to change the size of the video and that didnt work either. Is there anything else I could possibly do?.. oh yea, how do I put phone number on there?.. yea I have lots of questions lol.. Its my first time having one of these.. maybe I should of just spent the extra money on an iPOD and none of these issues would have to be in my mind.
