is it a specific slot, or doesn't it matter where the module's put in ?? if you can identify a faulty slot, your print is fried !!!
Im telling you Ber209. Mine did the exact same thing and when I took it to a professional that's exactly what it was. If you cant get into your Windows at all after a while of messing with it...its definately the motherboard. If its a pentium 3 you might as well buy a new computer now.
Now, this may sound dumb, but it really could cause a problem like you say you are experiencing. It happened to me, and I can't remember if I got a continuous beeping. When I installed new RAM, one time, I accidentally unplugged the power or the ribbon cable to my floppy drive. I screwed with the RAM for a long time until I finally noticed the plug to the floppy was just hanging. It would be a shot in the dark, but check it out.
Ber209 1. What is the motherboard make and model? 2. If it is an off the shelf machine like HP, Compaq, Dell, GateWay and so on, what is the model and cpu speed? If the motherboard is not fried your problem is most likely something simple, like memory type or configuration.
