Just a normal DSL modem. You'll just need to go the route of a crossover cable, unless you want to go buy a router.

Oh, and I set my modem up so I can open and close ports. Would that matter?

So, I just need to run the system link cable from the back of the PC to the Xbox and then use an FTP program?

With the FTP, do I just set the IP on the Xbox like you have, with the last digit being seven points higher than the PC one?

I looked it up on the net, and sites say that my IP is 138.217.70.254. SO do I just go from the back of the PC to the XBox, and then set up the Ip on the XBOX as 138.217.70.261?

If I'm understanding this right, does this mean it has nothing to do with my internet at all?

Read the guide I linked to. It'll explain everything you need to know.

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/213943

Also, the only reason my Xbox is 107 and my PC is 100 is because there are three PCs hooked up to our router with static IPs with two laptops running on wireless, and 107 is just what my router assigned my Xbox.

And yeah, it has nothing to do with your Internet connection.

Okay. I followed the guide and all you told me, Venom, and it's now working perfectly. I've got XBMC loading up as the default dash, and I can FTP files toandfro with ease.

Venom, and all the others who helped me out, thanks a alot for all the assistance; you guys are champions.

The only thing that still isn't working is my friends Xbox. He got it when it first came out and got it chipped very early. Do you think his XBox always jumps back to the default MS dash when the disc drive is opened because it's such an old chip, and might not support it? Or could it be something to do with the BIOS?

I downloaded the Slayer installer 2.6 that you told me to get. After I click the .exe file on the PC it goes through a series of install prompts, which leaves a large zip file. I'm guessing this is the ISO.

I burnt it just like I did the AID disc, but it won't play on my XBox.

The best way to burn an xiso is at 4 speed max and use nero's defaults

generally, the slower the better ^_^

Yeah, go as slow as possible. You might even want to find and put a 1 gigabyte dummy file on the DVD, too. It helps the Xbox read them.
