    Good morning all,
I recently bought a nokia dbox2 with sportster 1.75 image on it. When I first tried it I kept getting "error channel not available" messages. As the box had come from a different part of the country I did a service scan. It found all of the channels and will display the free to air channels but blank screens on the others. I am guessing it needs codes entering to allow these channels to be seen. I see that the latest images automatically update the codes, so will it be best to reflash my box with a more up to date image? Sorry if this seems to be a stupid question but this is all new to me so any help is greatly appreciated.

    thanks

    Paul

    Good morning all,
just to let you know I decided to bite the bullet and reflashed my box. Using Virgin+ v2.1 2xnokia by PaphosAL and the beginners guide to everything by Scotster I managed to do it without too much drama and cant thank these guys enough.

sc0user - I also flashed my DBOX to the Virgin 2.1 image. I have followed all your instructions in your guide which is great. Except I only get FTA channels and not the rest. Can you please let me know what to do and add it to your guide

    Thanks

It is not my guide its the authors guide Paphosal. If you read it he hints at what is missing. Have you also downloaded the Virgin + add ons from Eamos?

Have a look here I have answered a similar query.

Use IFA and reflash. If its a Sagem use flashcheck to see if it requires a 1x or 2x image, although IFA will also show you this.

Excellent guide on IFA at the end of all of Turner's posts http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/194/369401#4303532

Regards IFA and Vista, the version that is in Eamos is compatible. If you are still having problems with it there is a portable, (standalone version), that Renwich has posted a few pages back.

Just thought id let ppl know i was playing around with my dbox the other day.

i put it into kein system (yes on purpose) you thinkin CRAZY BOY!!!

pulled out the trusty laptop (VISTA)

So the situation here is i have a nokia dbox2 in kein system, laptop (VISTA) and a router with ethernet cable....ONLY them 3 items...

your all rolling round pissin your sides now shoutin CRAZY BOY!!! this clown should be on utube!!

    NOPE...

    here is the story

    step1

    search your image
    select your wireless adapter
untick null (were not using that remember)

    step3
hit start, msg pop up, dbox prepare to start flashing, some bullsh*t along them lines anyway thats boring!!!

    step4
waiting for dbox to start!! now come on what you waitin for grab the plug(dbox) and ram it in and out of the socket on the wall (MAKE SURE SOCKET SWITCHED TO THE ON POSISTION) WHILST!!!>>>> watching your comp were the bar is when its says FLASHING above long bar and it starts to turn GREEN just sit back and wait 4mins o so unplug box back into wall again ENJOY

    NOW WHO CRAZY BOY!!!!

LOL always like those "wholehearted" posts Turner :) Yep as per your guide just untick null. However I have never "rammed" my box's plug LOL. Bit graphical for this hour of the morning.

Well what can I say, It worked for me first time.
I didn't have the null modem cable and I just tried.
One thing though it worked only with the latest version of the IFA.
I think this should work either way (wifi or wired computer)
Once the IFA is sending the broadcast then you start the dbox.
the dbox will look for the specific protocol and it will boot from the image (even before the IP stack is up).
    Hope this helps
