about 3 years ago when i was 17 i was running a little late for work, i was doing around 60mph in a 40mph area and i saw a ploice van just too late, lucky for me i didnt get a ticket altho two weeks of worry certainly slowed me down, he must have been catching some1 else or setting up/breaking down, thank god. But i was worried. I wouldnt worry until it happens then its how you deal with it, i would be honest!

@rabnumbers: He has no authority to arrest anyone, but if he reports the offense to the authorities, you can bet your sweet butt the offender can get a ticket, especially if it was a construction zone violation.

@rihgtnumbers: I would have reported you, in a heartbeat. Just be more observant in the future, especially when driving in a construction zone. Those double fines are there for a reason.

I would think it may work the same way as a school bus driver reporting a person who went around a bus, when the stop arm was sticking out. You would get a ticket, and if you wanted to fight it, you would have to go to court.

A lot depends on the laws of the jurisdiction you are in.

In most, only a "sworn" officer may issue a traffic citation for a violation that he/she personally witnessed. That would be a bad thing.

Anyone else can report a violation. That is just "hear say" tho and cannot used against you as far as your driving record and insurance rates.......

That does not mean there will not be consequences. "Red Light" cameras often result in civil fines/penalties, if recorded.

I drive for a living to augment my retirement. Please, Please obey the speed limits and stay off my a**

best way to get the correct answer is to post if you live in the states and what state and see what the laws are on going through a stop sign in a construction zone, and if the state has laws on if a construction guy holding the stop sign can report you..

if in the state of Pennsylvania if you run a stop sign in a construction zone you a@@ is grass..as that person can turn you in,and the fine is double and the points are double..and if above 6 points ye can loose your license..

Numerous circumstances can happen depending on what state you are in. Most states have gotten tougher on violations that occur in work zones and do prosecute offenders. If the worker got your license plate and he does contact law enforcement....

you will receive a ticket by mail, but the ticket will come in the name of the registered owner, will be their responsibility in court to prove it was not him driving. So if it is your parents car, chances are your dad will get the ticket not you. So best to let your parents know now, instead of a surprise that will not make his day.

Also a warrant could be put out for the owner of the car, since the vehicle was not stopped within a reasonable time after the offense.

Best thing to do is talk to your parents about it, better to hear it from you first then someone getting arrested before the story comes out. Parents appreciate the truth more than having something hid from them or lied to. Give them a chance, talk to them. Show them you are adult enough to take resposibility for your mistakes.

you need to post what state you are in.

I can only say what can happen here in my state. If the vehicle is not found within the same day as the offense, the officer will bring the ticket to the states attorneys office for that county. The states attorney would review the charges and then they would put out a warrant for the owner of the vehicle. As for the time frame of the warrant actually coming out and catching up with the owner, can take up to two weeks.

If you were to get a ticket by mail, within a week the owner of the vehicle should of receive it.

All the above will depend on where you are and the laws your state has.

I'm going to wait a whole month and see if anything happends. I'm so scared to death. My life was good untill this happened. I don't want to live right now.

here is info on WA driving laws

    http://www.statedrivinglaw.com/washington-state-driving-law.html

this is posted on the front page of the site.

[bold]You can lose your license for the following violations of Washington traffic laws:
Reckless driving or reckless endangerment of a roadway worker[/bold]

this situation is just a minor offense, everything looks worse than what it is. Its just a live and learn type of lesson, passage of time will show you that. [bold]no life is worth throwing away over a traffic ticket. [/bold]
