you think 5850's in crossfire are more powerful? And slightly cheaper? If so, then the only downfall would be games that don't support crossfire...

 

though tbh there arnt many. most mainstream games will. and if not asap next months driver should have them.

plus remember the 5970 is also a CF card.

5970 = two 5850s in crossfire, in essence. There's almost no difference. The 5970 has to share 16x of bandwidth even if you have a 32x board though, and the GPUs also lose a bit of memory due to the shared buffer, so the 5970 is slightly weaker than two 5850s, but given it is all contained within one card, that more than makes up for the fact that it's marginally slower (typically around 3%).

If it were me I'd probably still take the WD20EARS. Favouritism maybe, but having not had any serious issues with the 10 WD Green drives I currently own, I would be more willing to pay a bit extra for drive familiarity and so on, not that I've heard too many bad reviews of the Samsung drives. If anything, the Seagates have worse press. This particular offer is a one-per-order affair, and delivery isn't free, so you're looking at a total cost of £88 or so. Order multiple drives and it's £84 per drive, so two would work out £88 each, three £87 or so. The WD green drives are £99 from both CCL and Scan, the latter of whom do free delivery but don't package HDDs that well. The former it costs £6 for delivery, and with a better courier and packaging. £101 per drive versus £87 might seem pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

 

LOL! I'm more a WD fan myself. Sounds like you've had very good luck with their green drives. Good to hear. I may strongly consider 1 or 2 for my next purchase

 

NewEgg.USA is selling Intel X25-M 160GB G2 SSD OEM drives for $405 including shipping. That probably means the 320 GB version is in the wings, but I've been waiting about eight months for the 160 GB to hit $400 so I finally snapped one up for my i7-720 laptop.

Next summer when the 320 GB get down to $400, I might get back into the market for my desktops.

I figured this was probably the best part of the forum to post in since this was about getting parts at good prices.

I'm looking to do some trade and i am need of some good UK wholesalers i have googled for some now for nearly 3 weeks and most if not all ask for a sign up fee or prices are virtually retail.

Problem is with retail prices i can't turn trade because it's costly.

So if anyone knows any good wholesalers for computer parts in the UK or if shipping is free from other counties, please post a reply.
