either power dvd or windows media player. no problems with originals it just wont read my copies but it does if it has been copied from a different writer

I've try using my brother computer with the NEC DVD Burner model# 1100. The backup copy is fine and is compatible with all players. The best part is it's compliant with Window media player. So I guess I better off with the NEC Drive. The Pioneer DVR-106D Sucks big time.
By the way I haven't heard any compatibility issue with the sony dvd burner. I heard it's the fastest dvd drive compare to Pioneer, NEC and etc.

Of course the Pioneer sucks - thats why it is the biggest seller in the +/- R market in the UK since its release. It sucks big time i guess. Poor postmen, must be hard having to carry all those parcels back to the post office with Pioneer DVr106's in them.

Bottom line - Pioneer is the big daddy of writers, then made the first home user one and they still continue to kick ass in the market. Look at the more experienced DVD back up people - what make do they all have? No offence intedned for those with other makes!

The sony drive may be the fastest but its very unreliable , My third replacement has now decided to not play dvds or view pictures , I'm in the process of contacting Dabs to exchange for the Pioneer 106 avoid it like the plague , when it does work its fast but hasn't really been a good experience for me .

Remember that it could be your hardware/software settings causing the problem and not the drive.

The discs plays fine in my other 2 drives ok so its not the hardware/software combination , plus they played ok on the previous 2 dvd writers I had . Even Pictures are screwed up the colours are all out and there's lines across them !!!

ive just found out that any pioneer drive has to be installed as a secondary master for it to work pretty perfect. i had loads of problems but now ive changed it over it works perfectly.

I've installed a few Pioneers.... found them to be a good sturdy workhorse.

Hee Hee, bet your not gonna go back and buy from them again.....

Give the fraud squad a call - they'll put it right.....no offense intended....

I just upgraded my PC from ME to XP and my Pioneer 103 to the Pioneer 106......and it rocks, powerdvd/backups all work flawlessly nice quick 15min burns and no skipping/freezing on movies and PS2 games......

Just to support the Pioneer party here, I would not purchase ANYTHING else excpet a Pioneer for the PC - didn't have to alter one setting to get it working........plug and play - did exactly what it said on the box.....

And thanks to XP I can now read multisession dvd's created with recordnow, whereas with ME it would only read the first session.......

Man my weekend just keeps better and better - gonna go and find myself a nice EWE just to cap it off in style.......

    Yeah upgraded to xp myself.
Using smartripper&dvd2one and get good results with the pioneer 106 now when backing up my originals but still get this screen split when backing up copies from 3rd parties so to speak. Im just woundering if it is some kind of anticopy software that the pirate copiers are using?
