    allright with the firmware update, DMA turned off, and IMAPI service re-enabled I can now burn CD-Rs ok, but the DVDs still don't want to work. I just burned one that claimed to be successful, but when I stick it back in the drive it doesn't even read there's a disc in it.

    Are you using the default drivers for the IDE ata/atapi controllers?

    @kickbak -

    - yes he is...

    @msb1981 - you need to try a blank dvd that your burner can recognise, or try a more well known burner, or a newer (well known) burner

    It wouldn't hurt to get the latest firmware 150B
    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_file.php?site=firmx&file=Dx82150b.zip

    There is also a pathched RPC1 firmware by "The Dangerous Brothers"
    http://tdb.rpc1.org/#DX082

    I have had problems with Cyberdrives being bad right out of the box.
    I returned two Cyberdrives (made in china).
    The third was a Cyberdrive "Made in Malaysia". It turned out to be a rebadged BenQ DW800a.
    I only buy Benq and NEC drives now.

    the firmware upgrade I did yesterday is 150B, it seemed to allow me to burn CDs just fine. Just still having problems with it burning "blank" DVDs.
