Yup, that's the one. Even if it doesn't do it automatically, SID uses UnleashX as it's base as I recall, and all you'd have to do is go into the network settings and configure them as necessary.

Not necessarily. That only occurs when DHCP is enabled on your router, and is being used by your Xbox at the time.

I just tried running SID so I can help you out with it. Turns out, I can't even use it. Reboots my Xbox and gives me an error 21. Must have something to do with the fact I have an irregular soft mod running.

As far as I know, it should default to DHCP and give you an IP automatically provided the Xbox and PC are connected properly. How are you going to be connecting your Xbox and PC together? Since you say you're using a modem, do you mean that all you have is a broadband modem? As in, one with a single ethernet and a single USB port? You'll need to use either a router or hub if you want to connect that way. A modem won't do you any good. If you don't have a router or hub readily available, you may also want to look into getting a crossover cable.

Sorry for the confusion earlier. I was actually responding to an earlier post and forgot to hit reply after I typed it up, so it looked like I was disagreeing with the one you made after that -_-

Anyway, extract the zip file so you end up with the dashboard in it's own folder. Inside you should find a folder labeled C. Everything inside the folder must be transferred to C on your Xbox hard drive. Just overwrite everything, and you should be okay. Once you have a working MS dashboard again, make sure you update it using a newer XBL enabled game such as Halo 2 to get the latest dashboard (5960 I think), as SID won't work with the 4920 dashboard.

nvm figured that out. but sometimes in the middle of the connection it just stops transferring and tries to keep going.

and the 2nd time i try to connect after i launch the program it works, not the first

i think i transferred it all over but theres still an error message when i try and go to the dashboard

Ok i was reading this thread and i got a newbies guide for this.

-first of all establish an FTP connection using FlashFXP
-then go to Flash FXP and go into the "C" directory on your Xbox Through your Computer
-once in the directory Delete Everything
-after that go to where you saved the MS dashboard on your computer
Unzip it it should be Named "C" open it then Copy all the Files on to the "c" directory on your Xbox.

NOTES: make sure that in the "c" on your Xbox has the folowing Files
    -A folder calld "Fonts"
    -A folder calld "Audio"
-A folder calld "xboxdashdata.185ead00" (or something like this"
    -A Folder called"xodash"
    -a file named XBox Book.xtf
    -a file named Xbox.xtf
    -a file named xboxdash.xbe

I don't think you're using the FTP client right...

When I get the chance, I'll write a short guide for you on using FileZilla since it's free and relatively easy to use.
