Hi, To my big surprise: I ordered 2 more R4 from http://www.veebuy.com for friends, and the only firmware that will run on them is v1.23 (Came with v1.20 on it) The official v1.18, Unofficial v1.19 one didn't work on it. Then I decided to try this v1.23 on the two *I* own, and it will not run, but will run official v1.18, Unofficial v1.19 So I guess, each card will need to be tested with v1.19 unofficial, this v1.23 SDHC flavor one, and the deluxe v3.04 one ! My 2 cents...
i had the same problem with the loading screen ...i was using a 4gb card and got a 2gb card and problem fixed .
i had the same problem with the loading screen . i used the V1.22 kernal and it all works perfect now . try the V1.22 and see if all is good ?

I recently bought a R4 SDHC and old games and moonshell is working well with the delivered kernel (v1.18). But I noticed that some new games didn't work with this kernel. I later found un-official releases for R4 SDHC (v1.19 to v1.25) When I tried those I noticed that some where working and other not. For version v1.19-v1.21 there was no menu icons but they worked ok. v1.25 I never got working, it hanged when booting/loading kernel. v1.24 started up ok but I never got moonshell working on that version (I also tried to copy moonsheel and/or _DS_MSHL.NDS from a working version but that didn't solved my problem). After lot of struggles I found a working version, 1.23, for my DS that works both for my roms and for my movies but I then just tried this r4 in another DS and found out that it didn't worked there. The moonsheel "game loading bar" never finished. I then tried the R4 in an old ds (no ds lite) and encountered the same problem there. Both those DS:es works fine with version v1.22 (or all three works but only one works with 1.23, including moonsheel).... I do not know the reason for this. If screen color indicate the NDS firmware then both ds lite have v5, i.e. magenta color, and the old ds has NDS FW 4). Any ideas why v1.25 hangs during boot? And is there someone that knows why the adapter works in some DS:es but not in other (then you need to load it with older kernel versions…).
Because it is a clone of the original R4 with minor adjustments and several are now having issues with software updates. There are now 10 variants of R4 most are poor or difficult to get working, I use the site below for updated firmware and I noticed that they are listin tha some clones are having issues with latest software. http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/
