I don't understand why you say to RIP the DVD using another program. When I use DVD Shrink and encode it automatically backs up the file in a folder I choose.
Trust me dude I've been doing it for months. I wouldn't be making a thread complaining about a hour+ time if I hadn't done it in significantly less time. In DVDShrink during the encoding process, I don't know the specific name, but it's something to do with kb/s or some sort. Anywho before I tried 2 drives I was steady in 6-7K range and now it's less than 1.5K. I'll disable the new drive and try it again and see. I'll post screens and show you that it was done in 20 minutes, give or take 5 minutes.
have u defraged u PC lately? Have u cleaned all the dust out lately? have u re-installed shrink? What about using Ccleaner to check the registry and clean some old stuff out?
My 2 cents... This is a multi-step process any way you do it... So you can see why it was requested by bbMayo that times from individual steps be noted and posted. How else can we separate the rip from the burn and know what is slowing down Ripping is the process of reading and removing encryption from the original, what Shrink/Region Free are doing. Of course burning is the writing of those video files to a blank. You said you used Nero, please post a Nero log from this. Check if you have Shrink set in Low Priority mode or if any of the quality enhancements are enabled. then that will make it take longer. Especially Deep Analysis. 300Bowler mentioned this before, I just want to re-mention it. Sometimes it's the simple things... If not, then a Nero log would really help. I'm interested in your new drive and the kb/s you are getting with it. What brand is it?
Well I disconnected my DVD-Rom and just kept my burner set as it was previous. Also I AM running ANYDVD in the background. Forgot about it. Anyway I went ahead and did a backup of Rocky Balboa and as expected the total time to encode and burn was a shade over 20 minutes: Also I posted a quick shot of the encoding screen but the rate is actually lower as it peaked out slightly over 8,000 KB/s which is what it usually runs. As for a Nero log, I don't open Nero standalone. I just use it intergrated with Shrink. Am I able to post a log that way? If so just tell me where to get it and I will gladly post it. I am about to reconnect my DVD-Rom and do a backup again to show the DRASTIC change in the amount of time it takes.
Well I turned off all the quality stuff and burnted Rocky in 14 min. 56 sec. I stand to be corrected, but I'm after a good burn not speed that's why Casino Royale took 62 min. I've always ran the extra stuff never tried to do it this way Oh well you learn something ever day But I going to set it back up for the Slow Ride !

Well I think I might go back to the slow ride as well. Rocky burned, yes, but it wouldn't play. Weird. I was able to burn something else afterwards that played fine.
what brand of media r u using? Might need a firmware update? IMO using the quality setting helps the picture quality a lot.
