Ya thanks for that lenny, clears a few things up for me all right.

What's the difference between the Cams by the way? Obviously I'm seeing that CCcam seems to be one of the most popular.

What sort of broadband would I need for a stable card share?? I have a 3 MB line at the moment with a 30 GB cap. Is this sufficient?? Can I surf the web (not download torrents etc) while on the TV at the same time without any breakup in feed from the card share?? Thanks

I'm getting there now, found a good tutorial/explanation of CCcam here: http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/...-faqs/127718-tutorial-cccam-card-sharing.html

Basically for a home card share, i.e. only in my house.

I have to add the f line to the host dreambox which has an IP address of 192.168.0.1

    F: jamesbond pass007 3 0 0 {0:0:2}

I also have to tell it what port

    SERVER LISTEN PORT : 12000

and then for the other machines I have to add in the line

    C: 192.168.0.1 12000 jamesbond pass007 no

    Is that basically it??

Do I have to do anything else to the server dreambox to make it read the card info?

Again thanks for peoples help on this one, there's a pint waiting in the South County for a few of the lads here :)

you need the boxkey in the server cccam.cfg, and thats it. use b16mcc cccam generator on www.satellites.co.uk and it will populate both server and client cfgs for you

Ahh, great reading i might have another go at my dreambox, again, nice work Lenny.

Mickah, View 6 box is that only for the uk market? as there is nothing coming out of the boxes, other than SETANTA, they have not gone to Nag 3.

its a line of code in the cccam.cfg to tie the card to the dreambox. search for the dreambox config creator on satellites.co.uk. It will do the boxkey conversion for you and generate the cfg file. Note you must use cccam 2.1.3 or later to read sly white cards. you cannot open channels on your dreambox by putting the sly card in without first pairing the dreambox to the card. this is what the boxkey command does. the config creator is pretty self evident

It's nothing to do with cable. This is receiving tv via satellite. Read through the previous pages and all will be explained.

For all of those following this thread this app creates the cccam.cfg file for you http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/...release-dreambox-config-creator-v0-9-0-a.html

Not sure about the following steps myself but maybe I'll figure it out as I go along.

    4. Select reader and speed.
    5. Create a boxkey if required.
    6. Use the $ buttons to copy the created boxkey to each reader.
    7. Always press the 'Preview' button to show the current config settings.
    8. After preview is shown , click 'Create CCcam.cfg'
    9. Select save location.
    10. Once saved you can now click 'FTP CCcam.cfg' to send the config to your Dreambox.

Is it safe to put your shy card into a clone dreambox 500?

I have read places that the dreambox could burn out the card and that an external card reader should be used. I'm guessing shy would be a bit suspicious if you had to request it be replaced!

Not sure about the following steps myself but maybe I'll figure it out as I go along.

    4. Select reader and speed.

Reader: Do you want to use internal reader external ie. Smargo or Omnikey. Speed: do you want to use normal spedd or overclock card which will allow quicker response times to clients

    5. Create a boxkey if required.

Boxkey is required if you are the server. If this is the primary system with the card in it then you will neeed the boxkey to tie the card to the box.

    6. Use the $ buttons to copy the created boxkey to each reader.

If you have more than one reader and as such more than one card then use the $ button

    7. Always press the 'Preview' button to show the current config settings.

Useful feature so you can see your input

    8. After preview is shown , click 'Create CCcam.cfg'
steps 8 9 and 10 are obvious and necessary

    9. Select save location.
    10. Once saved you can now click 'FTP CCcam.cfg' to send the config to your Dreambox.

Piopat please be more specific, explain how you thing your config should work. Otherwise cant help

it is not advisable to have your primary share as a DM500. Its a cheap solution that will work ok for clients. And when I say ok thats what I mean. Its a pretty basic box and you will find that in the end its a huge disappointment. For starters how do you deal with EPG. You have no memory and on top of that you have no USB on the box so 7 day EPG is impossible (currently working on an alternative solution for the EPG but this box does not make it easy). Its not advisable to use internal card reader unless you ensure that you have good air circulation. I use the internal reader on a DM800 which is fine. However I use external hard disk so I don't increase heat within the main unit and I've removed the back plate of the unit to help with the circulation
