you truly are insecure. You should be open minded to new ideas. The fact that you get all defensive when somebody goes against the direction of you comfortable little world only tells me that you fear new ideas. Truely sad. I wish the best for you. Later

I am open if I know there's a chance it'll work but as I said before I've been at this long enough to know something ridiculous when I see it especially when it comes from someone with an attitude like yours.

If pointing out facts is being defensive then I guess I am. Praetor and I responded to your first post with facts and legitimate observations and this was your response:

    And you call me defensive?

Chaps I am also struggling to back up my copy of Far Cry and having used "Afterdawn forums " in the past,so I thought I'd look this problem up.
That's how I came upon this thread .I have never left any messages in the past because I'm a very quiet guy and keep to myself most of the time.

Now I felt so annoyed at the two muppets who had nothing good to say but rip & tear into a thread that some person had the decency to write up , I just had to say something..

Now this may not work but for the newbies out there ,it is just the thought that some one has taken the time to write up what [bold]worked for him[/bold] . Now if you had any decency stop pulling apart what someone else has written and put in a thread what system worked for you ........... If any ????????

PS: thanks for your ideas MENTOR 11 .

The fact of the matter is there aren't any "universal" methods that will work with all protections and with any burner.

We have all the stickies I listed above to get folks off to a good start and if they encounter problems thay can post here with the methods and settings they've tried and we can help them from there.

Why don't you cut and paste Mentor11's method, go to http://club.cdfreaks.com/, post it and ask them their opinion of it. Those guys are hard core and they'll tell you exactly what they think.

Come back and give me a link to the thread with their responses. If they think it's great I'll formally apologize to all involved. If they think it's as ridiculous as I do then Mentor11 is still an idiot.

Far Cry is protected by SafeDisc 3.15 so the natural choice for backing it up would be Alcohol 120% using the SafeDisc 2/3 profile. This is what I used and set the write speed to 4X. The copy process can be slowed down by the fact that SafeDisc uses a massive amount of errors as part of the protection so when you see those don't worry - it's normal and will stop around 3% into the read.

I also used used BlindWrite5 to make a working copy by first using BW5 Tweaker to skip extracting topology (not needed for SafeDisc) and set the write to 4X. SafeDisc can usually be read at maximum speed but I usually set it lower simply because I like to hedge my bets.

The reads were done in my Lite On 166S DVD ROM and the burns were done in both my Plextor Premium and Plextor PX-708A.
