Ok, I've uninstalled the CD drive and the IDE controllers in Device Manager to no avail.

I've swapped drives, put in a completely different CD-RW drive and still THE SAME PROBLEM!!

My PC seem to no longer want to recognize ANY CD drives! It's crazy! I've never had a problem like this before.

What am I missing? Any have any more ideas?

And thanks for all of the help so far. It is appreciated!

    What do you mean?

There is only one port for the cable for the CD drive and one for the hard drive and one for the floppy drive.

That's all I have. Did you mean those?

you have 2 ide ports on your motherboard that allows you to hook up 4 ide drives. the floppy is not an ide drive as it uses a 34 pin cable whereas an ide uses a 40pin cable.

Right, I do have the two IDE ports. One has the hard drive plugged into it and the other has the CD-RW drive plugged into it.

What are you suggesting that I do? Can I use one cable and one port for both the hard drive and the CD-RW drive? On one cable?

    ddp!

I haven't tried that! It's a great idea because I've had no problems with my hard drive.

    I'll try that tomorrow!

I am having the EXACT same problem (same drive, etc...) with the CRX320E. I am going to call Sony soon to see if they can help. but in the meantime I will try the suggestions on this board.

I just found this link which seems to describe what happened to me (I did uninstall the old EasyCD Creater program)

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314060&Product=winxp

I have yet to try this since I am currently at work. Also I haven't called Sony yet. I'm a little worried they will not help me since my drive was bought from Newegg.com and I dont know if it is still warrentied. Let me know what happens if you run that fix. I will try it later tonight.

That did it for me too!!

Thanks a lot for sharing, andrew018!!

I've already burned several discs with it and it's working like it's old self again!

Funny thing is, I never had Easy CD creator on my PC, but that totally worked for me.

    Phew!! THANKS A LOT!!

Can you tell how happy I am? :^D
