    dylanpugh,
Do a complete UNINSTALL, then reboot the computer and reinstall but this time, run the setup programs in a different Order..
I'm happy Jonathan put my files up on his site for all to have and share !

Ok I'll try uninstalling and then rebooting and installing the programs in a different order - can you suggest any particular order? or is it going to have to be trail and error ?

Arghhhh ! I can't stop this message from appearing "shwserve.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close"

It looks like, that even if I get it to work, the software is set to work with US settings not UK, how would I go about changing the settings to uk?

Yeah I'm using XP with service pack 2, and I did let windows send and error report, I can't see how that helps? Maybe I've just got a dodgy card?

What settings do you need to change for the UK ?
I can't suggest any particular order, but I do know a guy was getting an error and by uninstalling and reinstalling in a different order, it solved his problem. If windows wants to send an error report, let it. It might just give you a clue as to what the problem is.
I helped another guy get his set up over in the UK and his worked great.
Just a thought, You are running Windows XP.. Correct ?

I've seen this with ATI and NVIDEA video cards with GIGA Pocket and XP.
Save Restore point just in case.
Use a different video driver or if original video card, use the driver from Sony recovery cd-dvd. You may have to experiment and visit Video manuf site for different download versions or get from driversguide.
One of the built in XP drivers may work, just use the Hardware device manager, update fome a specific location and Don;t search I will choose the driver option. If more than one is listed try a different one than installed. Sometimes more options if uncheck Show compatible hardware.
If wrong driver goes in and won't boot up right, you can always boot to Safe Mode if need to remove wrong driver.

    LavaJoe,

Go to Sony.com support to get the drivers for your model.

I can send you Giga Pocket 4.3 with instructions to install.

Sony does not give out those drivers... I talked to them via instant messaging and they said that I have to buy the restore CD's.

I think I have the drivers but I am not sure if they are the correct ones as every time I try to launch the giga pocket software, my machine re boots

    Hi Slicker,

I see you have a pal eu-au model?
See if you can do a timer recording.
If it recorded, than your video drivers are wrong.

    Hope this helps.

I have a Sony Vaio PCV-RX500e. It runs, or ran i should say, Giga Pocket 4.3 But now when i open it, it says another program is accessing the Giga Pocket DB. Is there a way that i can fix this without having to do a complete re-install? I need TV!

I had a similar problem on my SONY PCV-RZ14G before. I suggest you try the following:
    1. Go to the SONY web. (http://esupport.sony.com/)
    2. Click on Softwares/support
    3. Type in your Model #
    4. Click on Original
    5. Download the SONY MPEG2 ENCODER DRIVER BOARD and install.

    Hi agak,

Thanks for the comment but even the timer recording wizard causes my machine to reboot.

    Any other thoughts.

    Cheers

I am pretty sure that I have used the ones from the CD and the support site.

There is an unknown device in my device manager that I have no idea what it can be. I can't remember if its there when I use the recovery DVD to install windows on.

The GigaPocket application that I am using is the one that is on the recovery DVD.

I have a similar problem, I had a SONY PCV-RZ14G. Unfortunately it got messed up and I decided to rebuild a new PC. I have almost ALL new parts but kept the original hard drive with a new format and the tv tuner. I can't seem to get the tv turner to be recognized by windows though. I'm on windows XP Pro. Any ideas?

I hope someone can help me or direct me somewhere that can help me. I have a Sony Vaio Desktop PCV-RS430G. I did not (major error I've realized) create my recovery disks upon purchase. PC crased and lost the entire OS and everything else in my VAIO world. Sony says they don't supply these cd's and I'm at a loss. I have recoved the OS and personal files and drivers but I have lost all applications and can't find anyone who has an application CD. Do any of you know where I can find the app cd or the DVD? I am sorry this is so long but any help is appreciated, I miss my Giga Pocket Software =(
