well thats all you need for the new boxes, no need for a basic sub you are already connectedas i said in my last post who ever connected it up for you done a bad job, cable is probably cut, freyed, slashed, or some 1 else is feeding from your cable aswell!
or best is get some 1 who knows a bit about connecting the cable and do it again proper
    very easy job to do

EDIT:sorry yes you need broadband aswell

the cable part stops after 12 mts the sat part remains so you will have to replace the box after that and this is from the horses mouth

    cheers hooter.
the channels were working one day then next they wernt so it cant be a bad job as it was working for 2 years? also the feed comes directly from my cable box on the front of my house so no one can be feeding of it and to be honest my neighbours are elderly so they wouldnt have ac clue waht to do(even less than me!)
someone has said the weather plays a part in recieving bad signals? but surley everyone would be affected as we have had shit weather lately

@e45 so the rumer has been verified!

yes the weather can play a part but not much or like what is happening to you
it would have to be a storm for it to go like yours if you were connected proper

I have a little bit of experience on connections from outside your house to inside
and if its not done proper, then a small bit of rain, wind can be bad reception for a long time
get a ladder and make sure the screw is not coming out of port at front of house

or it could be where the connectors on each end of cable,
or the copper wire at 1 or both ends of cable could have broke, another reason why you get good and bad on some days!

i think we can discount this aswell. its in a brown sealed box on the front of my house. so i cut the cable tie and had a look inside but everything seems fine dry and all connections seem ok.
i really think it the end of my free cable :0(
