starview 4 the box super usb few channels have gone off how to fix

As you can tell i have no idea what to do but i do have the Down Tool and firmware programms downloaded and just waiting for the cable (its like having a brand new car without the keys lol).
Will just wait and i take it i just join the box to the computer then go through the down Tool ect..

follow the tutorial and you will see excatly what you need to do and then you wont have any problems

ok, in normal english, your 7 months late with this advise, read the kryptview / starview 6 threads which is what folk have been doing since N3 kicked in, boxs have been working 7 months now

Hi again.
The usb adaptor arrived today and i have tried following the tutorial but when i try to download the a780 file to com1 it comes up:
Cannot open serial portCom1
please check if thecom port has the following parameters
Baudrate : 115200bps
Parity : no parity
Databyte : 8bit/data
Stop Bit : 1

This is all it says and wont let me go on any further.

All connections are connected right and the Kryptview box is pluged in.

Can anyone please help!!

SETTING UP COMPORT ON VISTA MACHINES

Although technically Vista does call the system "Computer" whereas XP referrs to it as "My Computer"

START
Right Click "COMPUTER"
Choose "MANAGE"
In the resulting window, click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
In the right hand pane, click on the little plus sign beside "PORTS" in the right hand pane.
Right click on the USB Adapter (Should be something like “USB Serial Port COM # or "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm. Port (COM#) or “Communications Port” (COM #) )
Choose "PROPERTIES"
Click on "PORT SETTINGS" TAB
Click on "ADVANCED"
Then you will see the COM Port Number Box. You should be able to change it there using the drop down box.
Try to set it to COM2
also change the baud rate to 115,200 from the default setting of 9600
Restart Windows (If necessary but normally not required)

 

Thanks for that but now when i try it comes up downloading is not requested
I think this means that the portCom 1 thing has worked

ok now what you do is turn the box off at the back get the loader and the firmware on to it press download then turn the box back on at the back and you should see it loading to the box try that

what pc are you using xp or vista ?? where did you get your cable from was it maplins ??

are you using a usb adapter ??

ok tell me did you load the little disc for the adapter first before plugging the adapter into your pc ??

and what are you doing excatly when you are flashing the box go thru it step by step and dont leave any points out

1st i loaded the Usb to Rs232 (340) and clicked install then pluged in the a780 to the wall then attached the usb

I then put on the Down Tool programe and pressed on download.

It then asked me to put on the a780 programe i clicked start and 1st came up

I then tried:

START

the downloading is not requested

Now it is coming up with:

Cannot open serial comport 1
And now when i try to go into device manager i am unable to find ports to continue
