starview 4 the box super usb few channels have gone off how to fix

as e45 said it could be down to your signal not been strong enough
"try it in a friends house and see what the result is there"

i would have suggested for you to get a "booster box" but that would be thrown good money away as them boxes will be gone soon

you could ring your cable provider and say to them you need your signal boosted,
but you would need to have a sub box from them and say its acting up otherwise why would you need a boost in signal!

 

i will try my friends now and report back.
any links to any signal boosters? do i need a certain kind?

 

any 1 that is an electric plug in type would be best,
see if a mate/family/neighbour has 1 to check out first
but as said your box will be cut off shortly and there is no fix for any of them boxes
as all new boxes work from your broadband and cable,
nag.3 is the new encryption for all the cable networks

 

yep hooter although rumour has it they are holding back around here for some reason.

I was wondering if you could help me i have a telewest, starview box but in the last week all my channels ahve stopped working.

I've tried the factory setting, installaion, auto scan then when its finished exiting to the main screen and entering the code 1570 and exiting to the tv but nothing has worked!

I was wondering if you could help me, is there new codes?

no all them old boxes are going, no fix or updates for them, due to nag.3
there are other boxes out that work around it, starview.6, starview hd combo, kryptview a780
read up on them

 

Most areas are no going or gone to N3 there is no fix for this problem you will need to get yourself a newer box that can handle a work around of n3 you ca get the A780 from kryptview if you want or the combo HD box from starview which is a cable and sat box

well i subscribed to virgin again in april and since then the box has been taken out and left on the side while i was using the starview box! (the new card is in the box)

what do i have to do to get all my channels working, (im a bit of a dummie so i need simple english! lol

what box do you want working,lol
well your vm box ring up if having problems with that and say you were working away in country
your starview well thats just ready for the bin
you could try factoru reset&rescan, but your area is prob on nag.3
read up on starview.6 or kryptview a780

 

put your virgin one back on for now till you buy a new box get the A780 Kryptview one and when you get it put the software on it connect to your cable like you had the starview one connected to and connect the krypt up to that scan your channels and plug your broadband into the back of the box job done all your channels should be back

 

ok
again somthing weird happend.
it has been switched off for a couple of days and thought i would have another mess with it and when it turned on every channel was working perfect with no attenuator os signal booster but after about 2 hours they all started to go unwatchable again!

but at mo that makes no sense to me at all, where would i get the software from?
I just had these big fat cable from the back of the tv to the back of the starview box.
how do i scan the channels, is it the same way as starview?

I know this is getting boring for your guys but i have no idea what im trying to do.

yes software is freely available the cable you have from your starview box would now go into your new box then you scan it after that you connect up your broadband connection to the box as well

 

if you are using spliter without a booster you will keep losing channels as your signal level is not good enough to hold the channles in place
