@ ritchey, I was referring to the prob with the older Sv4 firmware, where ya had to load the EPG, the latter ones ya didnt,

Epg for some reason is always dodgy on the SV

    Hi

I have been using a starview one for several years with no problem.

I am planning on buying a Starview 5 this week. I have downloaded the correct bin file (TheboxSuperUSB2_v2.03.20090923.BIN) which I found without any problem and placed it on a properly formated USB (4Gb) stick.

I have three questions if someone has time to answer them-

    1) The supplier I purchased my original box from no longer exists I was planning to buy a starview 5 from www.theboxdistribution.co.uk

Is this company a reputable supplier or do you have any better/more reputable companies to suggest?

    2) Using the instructions listed to install the latest firmware will the chanels found on instalation have there proper names or will I have to spend hours renaming chanels again (oh the joy..lol)

    3) I am very comfortable using the starview 1 interface and have been updating "things" manualy for some time, Is this still possible using the starview 5 or do I have to wait for new firmware to be developed before I can use it again

    Thanks in advance

Also I use the Keymaster program is starview 5 compatible?

Try Wizzard Sat or Skywonder to compare prices

Nope all done as per a subbed box, chans in proper order, names and favs done

    Cheers Mickah

I will check those supliers you mentioned for price but £85 seems to be the cheapest I've found.

Glad to hear I dont need to rename anything...lol

Once again thanks for answering my questions.

Hello i bought a starview 5 box recently using a splitter from vm internet to the box installed the firmware keycode is on all the channels are there the only problem i am having is the picture quality is very blocky and loads and loads of faint little squares in the picture. It is extremly off putting to the point of not being able to view it anymore. Please i have tried a system re install puting it back to factory settings checking all the connections then starting from normal again but the same old thing. It worked good when i first got the box for an half an hour or so then i noticed the picture quality. The signal level is at 48% and the signal quality is at 99% please help!

Yes i know the signal is to low but if i get a signal booster it will just boost the bad picture i have heard and make it even worse so i dont want to waste 20-30 quid for nothing i realy dont know what to do any advice would be great

spend the 20-30quid on a signal booster and increase your signal level it needs to be around 60%
