Hi - sorry to be a pain asking questions on a forum and everything.....

    But....

What has been explained? How do I get the channels back that have vanished? I have tried methods that worked for me previously to no avail. Is the headline "do a factory reset and start from new" - if so then just tell me, but would really be appreciated if there was any alternate advice as re sorting channels every two weeks isn't ideal....

Also whats the "Movies 1-10 are no longer" all about, have they changed name, or just been vaporised by some form of alien being? Forgive my ignorance, but assume I know nothing then we can hopefully get a formative answer sooner than later.

    Thanks )

Robbo if your box was working two days ago there is probably nothing wrong with it now. Do a factory reset and you will be OK. You don't have to connect to a PC. Just have a look through the thread and you will find out how to do the reset. Forget 1570 and stick to info 2004.

movies 1 to 10 no longer exist. They now have names like action, drama, and comedy however S*Y Action cannot be viewed but you will also have SMActionHid which is the same channel and that can be viewed. You can save your lists by uploading them to your PC and then downloading again after a factory reset.

If you look through the thread the way to upload has been posted several times.

The way to do a factory reset has also been posted several times for those who have never done it. Most of us here didn't have a clue before we found this forum so trust me it is not difficult.

okay..I have another slight problem. I would like to update my StarView box but I only have one RS232 adapter at the back of my tower and thats been taken over by my monitor. So i cant really do the updating without a monitor, is there anyway I can still update it?

    Thanks

for evry one who will lose there chanells after a factory reset , why not save your chanel list to save sorting it all out again , its as easy as flashing your starvew. using gt rom program

[ for those that dont know how ]
1 - connect your pc/laptop to your starview 2 - goto user setup on the starview
3 - select S/W Transfer This will now open a box that apears to be awaiting a connection
4 - open GTRom Loader v4.oo and select Channel Data File
5 - Click Upload Locate and save your bin file on your hardrive.

to put back on just use gt rom like you do when you flash your box except tick the channel button on the program

easy peasy and no messing about putting the channels in order again

i got an rs232 cable from maplins the other day, male/female conectivity - they didn't have usb/female leads, that means of course i couldn't connect to my laptop cos i don't have a rs232 port on it!!!

so, that means i'm really buggered, doesn't it?

I'm gonna give the box back to the guy and get my money back, i am bereft of want for free channels cos of all the sh*t i've been through trying to sort this out - i bought it in the pre-tense that all i would have to do was plug it in and away i'd go - but, oooh nooooo!!!!

Found this information on another forum, it might be useful if you are not sure if you have a cloned box or not. Don't take it as gospel as with so many things on underground sites it should be taken with a tiny pinch of salt.

Hope it helps if you have any doubts.

    Hi TEZZER007 and all
I have just recently bought a starview from ebay for £80. I got it and did a scan and got all the channels. My emu is on, But noticed that 50 + channels including s*yspo*ts 1 & 2 are all not working. When i go to the channel the screen is black and thats it! I bought it only for the footie and i cant get it. I only get sk*spo*ts 3 and extra. When i go to my channel list the 50+ channels appear all together locked (not working) and another thing i have recognise is there is like a small arrow next to them, dont know what it means.
Please email me or write back on this board.
ANYONE THAT CAN HELP PLEASE EMAIL: ***removed***

What you need is a USB 2.0 to RS232 9 Pin adaptor

If any one has the same problem I got round it by doing a factory reset I was trying to avoid it by just rescanning but it didn't work I know its a pain re-arranging all the channels but its worth it cos I have all stations now. :)

    Hi all,

I'm looking for the 257 BIN file and the 255 BIN file. I live in the Dublin area and have heard the 255 file works best in Ireland, although from reading this thread 257 seems the best. If someone has both of them could they send them to me and I could check for myself.

    Thanks

    Hi,

    Great posts!

Could someone mail me the 257 bin file please. I have 259 version and keep getting Scrambled or bad channel every so often. Very annoying. Will this version resolve the problem?
