2 grooves in the remote s/n sp610 looking at the back scarts on right

 

all boxes are brilliant when u 1st use them, it took mine a week to show its true colours.

 

mikeygb just to let you know my box that went down had the scarts on the back left hand side and the remote had two grooves on the back,,my new box which i am 100% sure is genuine has only one groove in the back of the remote and the scarts are on the back right hand side.

 

exectly same as mine, possibly bought from same person but hes assured me its genuine & i trust him so I reckon some one out there has got mixed up with genuines and fakes. theres a thread on the satdownloads avout this but even that is questionable as the pics were mixed up!

 

when you say back left do you mean your looking at the rear of the box or looking over the box to the back 9if ya know what i mean)

 

yes i have seen that thread- v confusing to say the least,my box that went down originally came with v258 installed and it wouldnt work,so i flashed it with 257 and hey presto it was fine,my problems started when i updated to 260 (why i dont know i should have left it on 257 as it was fine) but it ran great on 260 for about two days absolutely no sign of a problem ,but then the picture froze - this was out of the blue,the first time it had ever done this,i turned it off and it wouldnt turn back on -dead as a dodo!

 

the box that i beleive was a clone had the scarts on the back left as i was looking at it from the display , also the two box packagings differed,the clone cardboard box was a paler purple colour and a bigger cardboard box,the instructions were in a matt finish and almost looked a sthough they had been scanned,my new instructions are in a glossy finish and look genuine.

 

exactly same as me mate. i read that the 260 had certain changes that i wanted my box to have, faster epg, more menu entries etc... i wish i stuck with 257 now. I bet the real and fake boxes are both perfectly ok, its the firmware thats causing the problems. Im mates with my supplier and hes sold hundreds but theyre all fine, mines the only one to have been updated to 260, and mines the only one to have died!! STAY AWAY FROM 260

 

Hi, just got mine today and running on 257, i get most of the channels inc comedy, action family, drama, scifi, classic adn idie and SP2..but i cant get prem or Modern or SSports1 or Ssports3.

Any reasons why please??

i have had one real box power down with this new update and my kids copy box is still going strong , so theres that theory out the window.
maybe its the new 260 thats at fault, and not the fake boxes as mine is going longer than the original one .????????

 

would you consider the long box to be fake or the short one? theres a lot of confusement on this issue but i think im getting to the bottom of it

 

well my new box has already come preinstalled with 260 but i have just flashed 257 into it,im not taking any chances maybe it is 260 thats wrecking all these boxes- clones or real

 

well i guess that ones been figured out. any one with 260 - get back to 257 asap. i know a few hackers so im going to ask them to compare the 2 firmwares, see what the difference is. im guessing theres 2 different versions of the 260 we've all got hold of the wrong one

 

just been looking on another forum ,it seems absolutely loads of boxes have died on people over the last few days and every single box has v260 firmware installed, most fingers on other forums appear to point to 260 being at fault,as no problems were found with 257 so yep thats a definite for me i will stick with 257 on my new box ,and for other people too i would advise them to stay away from v260 and stick with the stable 257 firmware.

 

HI I BOUGHT A STARVIEW BOX WHEN I WHEN I INSTALLED THE STATIONS WERE ALL SCRAMBLED WOULD YOU KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO THANKS

 

hi cinty press menu then 1570 then scrool down to the key emu writing and turn on,then exit back to your tv,srelect a scrambled channel and it will unscramble for you.

 

if menu 1570 doesnt bring up the secret menu then go into parental control and press info then 2004 and key emu on from there

 

THIS MIGHT SOUND MAD BUT DO I HAVE TO DOWNLOAD SOMETHING FIRST [I'M NEW TO ALL THIS STUFF]THANKS

 

if your picking up channels (scrambled or not) youve already got the software on your box BUT check the version - you want 2.57 if its 2.60 get the 2.57 patch ASAP

 

how far have you got?,first thing,is has the box got software installed,have you already scanned for channels and found channels but they are scrambled?,if thats the case just do as my last post said- into parental control,press info and 2004 then scroll down to key emu on and exit and then go to a scrambled channel. if you havent svcanned for channels yet then turn your box on,press menu then system information and read the software number it says.
