    Thanks DELLBUY. I'm on MMDS, so that explains why I only have ~93 TV channels (as opposed to 142 like regular cable).

    Can anyone tell me if the new v260 download is corrupt. I was warned the if you run it that it will knock your box off. is this for all boxes or just the copy ones. I'm still confused as to which one I may have. Many Thanks.

    I'm currently using 260 and have been for the last week.
    People are saying that the 260 firmware is killing both origional and copy machines but I didn't read this until I had already had the firmware on for a while so I don't think it's going to kill it now.
    EPG is still a bit crap but at least on most channels i can see what i'm watching.

    Fingers crossed anyway.

    theres a lot of confusement about copied boxes, some people think they are the short ones with the scarts on the right (looking at the rear of box) but some people think otherwise. basically it could be either but the copies WILL NOT let you upgrade / downgrade firmware as often as you want. It will let you do it once or twice but then it will either die on you or just keep failing to flash. I still wouldnt trust version 260, yes they may be corrupt files floating around but I wouldnt take the risk (again). These boxes are between £60-£100 thats a lot of money to be taking risks with. My advice to every one is buy boxes with return policies, stick with the pre-installed firmware unless advised to change by people who know what they are talking about. you know how the saying goes: if it aint broke, dont try to fix it

    hi im new to this starview thing, ive ordered my box and it should be arriving tommorow, can someone explain what the difference is between the different softwares and does it matter what area you live in.......my provider is virgin media

    can anyone help me my box is showing what looks like a dollar sign on some channels and have tried all the info on here but some channels are still scrambled have not got any software

    when you say youve tried the info on here, have you tried turning emu on through the menu?

    dagame, read my earlier posts. it doesnt really matter what area you in as long as its uk, ive heard that ireland users need different software versions to uk. You should wait until youve got it and let us know what software version (if any) is installed

    shirley, when you select a scrambled channel do you get a little box in middle of screen saying updating? if you do then you need to wait until thats finished, then all scrambled channels will work. if not, try factory reset, scan all channels again, then it should work, if not let us know.

    can anyone help me
    i updated my star view box to ver 260
    and about 2-3 days later power of the box goes
    there is no LED lights or anything it just stopped working plz can anyone help me

    Your in the same boat as a lot of people (including me). the bad news is the box is knackered, nothing can be done. luckily for some of us some suppliers replace these but some unfortunately wont so good luck on that 1. If you do get another box stay away from 260 firmware cos its that thats at fault

    Hi no it says scrambled or bad channel tried rescanning going through parental control entering codes 2004 and mastercodes nothing works

    when you go in parental control, press info, then 2004 which takes you in to the secret menu

    turn emu on, then select a scrambled channel, wait for it to update then you should have all channels unscrambled
