They have been made in both countries the genuine ones have but the clones are made in china but sat made in korea on them..
I just bought another gen one off wizard for £47.50 as he is selling them off to make way for the new starview, badged as "The Box"
Now is the time to buy gen boxes at cheapest prices.

my boxes went down a week after flashing with 260ee , i am not saying thay when it died it was unrepairable cos mine are ok , it just went on stand by and locked out
i used 257bin, gt rom and they accepted 257 and work ok.

and they are clones so i am baffled

there are no manufacturers of starviews in korea, traders and distributors maybe, but NO MANUFACTURERS. on the other hand, in china ive found 3 manufacturers:

1. shenzhen saniptv digital technology co. ltd
2. shenzhen victory digital technology co. ltd
3. anyview technology(H.K) limited

all in china, none connected in any way. BUT check this out - a quote from anyview:

We are producer of Digital Receiver We promise: that if you offer us a sample we can OEM the same as the sample from you.

Could this be where the so-called copied are coming from??

IVE HAD 1 BOX GO DOWN OUT OF 70 ONLY BECAUSE I KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING BEFORE IT WAS RELEASED I TOLD EVERYONE NOT TO GO NEAR THIS FILE 1 GUY DID....ONLY PEOPLE WHO HAVE LOADED 260 ONTO THEIR BOX WILL GO DOWN SOME OF THE SO CALLED"REAL BOXES" WENT DOWN AS WELL AND IT ALL TIES IN WITH THE NEW STARVIEW COMING OUT THIS MONTH>

 

if there is truth in what you say markyrush,then the guy who has developed this 260 firmware and spread it about has casued a great deal of harm and mistrust amongst starview users. from now on there is going to be a lot of anxiety and uncertainty the next time a starview update is released, this has been v bad for innocent people as most didnt even know they had or were buying clone boxes,so as per usual its innocent joe public that has been the losers !!

 

must agree wiyh you there mate i told all my clients to contact me if they needed a new file and only 1 messed with the 260 but i gave him a replacement box within 5 hours of phoning...the best thing to do is stay on the firmware you have now prefer 257 and when the time comes to load a new one contact your dealer.....DO NOT LOAD ANY FILES OFF SITES THERE ARE 3 KINDS OF STARVIEWS.

 

The above poster is not really telling anyone the whole truth and is attempting it seems to protect his own interests as a trader dealing in fake starview boxes.

Of course he would want you to believe 260 is a rogue file, on other forums he was saying before there were no such things as clones, i've just been reading his postings.

For members here who aren't already aware the real starviews were designed here by a company in uk and then manufactured abroad by a korean manufacturer who just assemble the parts to the design spec. All the software is then made for here in uk, and released by that company as they import the box and distribute it to authorised dealers. The company who make it and support the genuine box put out the software on their support forum which is the official forum for the box.

The cloner copied the boxes and got a factory in china to make them pretending to be a starviews. They copied the smaller ones the 1st type that were made. They provide no support or firmware and get their clone dealers to refer people to the real support forum, pretending their boxes are real.

The next generation of starviews came out (real ones) that are larger and with the scarts on the other side with a larger remote. And the real smaller ones were no longer made. The clones look like the smaller boxes but the remotes are similar to newer real larger starviews.

They decided to make all the software that was released, when they became aware of the clones, only work with the real boxes. It wasn't a secret and was announced on the real support forum back in february this year. Then there were the posters like the above chap who came along and argued that there were no such things as clones.

I think he's miffed as his easy ride is over and must be stuck with his clones and needs to get rid or is gonna have a lot of people chasing him for refunds now. Suppose as he says he knew all along, why did he still sell people the clones?? well he can read like others so its not hard. (theres no secret knowledge from anyone in the know here). You can sign up and read for yourself in the support forum the announcement and all the warnings.

Any future updates apparently will only work with real boxes so anyone buying from a clone dealer now would have to be mad. So as to the point of only getting your updates from your dealer then that's pretty daft because if their selling clones all they will offer is the old software before 260 which may not work depending on how the box updates if it goes down. All the new software that will fix it when it goes down will be the official software that was brought out by the same people who made all the others including 260.

Unless that is the cloners decide to start providing their own support forums with their own seperate clone software. But that will cost them which defeats the point of cloning something doesn't it.

If you wish to believe the above poster its your choice but i just googled him and in his adverts he was warning people to buy from him and not fakes while he must have been selling them himself...nice.

any idea what the differance with the internals are on the 2 boxes and why do the clones go of and the real ones dont . i thought if they were clones then the same memory and flash rom and parts are used , so how can a clone go of with the firm ware 260 and not the good ones . i am baffeled

My mate just got one of these and the ham somehow managed to change his password, & not remember what it is. I can't even get into the factory settings to just reset it as it's asking for a password on this too.

Any advice?

MARK i am sure the clone story is over now and you will not be able to find any solution for your Boxes and only Origional box will work i would suggest start thinking of finding a cheeper place in any village to dump your on the way boxes as ship is about to reach and there is no solution for ur Fake Boxes...
