Hi Guys, i basically started this thread and have been dealing with starview boxes for a long time my supplier is the original source for starview boxes, software V260 is the new official software, it is however killing clone boxes as the software was made for the original boxes its like putting petrol in a diesel or diesel in a petrol car it aint going to work and in effect damage your motor.

If you people continue to buy off rogue traders from ebay or ad papers etc then thats up to you i dont mind helping people who PM me but please ensure that i will not be held responsible if the software or advice i give kills your box as i only work with original boxes. Regards. Tommy

its the shits that people who bought fake boxes in good faith , thinking nothing ov it have to suffer , most didnt even know fake even were out there

starview wont be getting any more of my money fake or not ,
suport should be for all, let starview sort out the problem cos this will afect they sale as well because people are afraid to spend money in the fear it may be a fake and recieve no suport in the future.

SEE YA I AM GOING BACK TO THE GOOD OLD DBOX2 STICK ALL THIS SHIT UP YA ARSES //// I UNSUBSCRIBE TO THIS CRAP AND BOLLACKS COS YOU ALL TALK fusking SHITE AND STICK THE fusking STARBOX UP YA TAIL PIPE BYE BYE

do you have software on your box already? If so then all you have to do is scan the channels press menu enter 1570 turn EMU ON and sit back and let the channels update

The truth has been on here all along but many choose not to believe it and get all upset. Each to their own I suppose.

the firmware is no good for you m8,

you will have to put firmware 257ee on the receiver to turn the EMU on

    do the following
you should have had a Null modem cable in the box of the reciever,

    GTRom loader v4.00
    serial port : com1
    baud rate : 115200

    STB Setting
STB Model (what ever it comes up with - LEAVE IT AS IT IS)
BIN File - STAR VIEW_26012007_257eE_api.bin (must have this on you computer somewhere find it)

FILE TYPE - App File Only

    then click on DOWNLOAD

THEN WAIT TELL ITS FINISHED FLASHING , THE RECIEVER SHOULD TURN OFF & ON BY ITSELF

    Then enjoy watching

you can get the software from here

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/493446

you can use RS232 serial to usb cable too flash the receiver,
the com port might not be com1 , so you have to see which one it picks up, then follow the info i gave you

I found that file and downloaded it, all my settings are as you say, it is set to COM1 in my device manager also, it still does not move from 0% Are my cables wrong? What does a null modem cable look like and how does it connect. At the moment I have a cable which fits the back of the star view the other end is the same and is connected to the serial end of my RS232 cable which connects to my PC through USB.

Does this sound right to you?

    Hi there,

I am trying to set up a Starview box, but there are no scart leads available to it. The tv is about 12ft away from the box. Can I set it up using co axial cable instead? And if so, which connections do I use?

    Thanks for any help received.

Come back Tezzer, a good guy.

    YEH maybe a bit harsh
i am just fed up of all the different views on fake boxes , when in fact no one knows the truth yet
lets wait till they all go of like in jan 2007 and we will sort it out then
in the mean time stop the worrie and enjoy your starview and we can cross the bridge when we come to it
just buy the bigger boxes to be on the safe side from now on and if you have a "FAKE" just enjoy it

we are here to help people and some newbees are getting scared of with all this talk about dead boxes etc.
now lets just continue to help people on here get up and running
