Hiya - agree totally with previous post. The people on here have been amazing re help with starview. THANKS A BUNCH!!!
At the end of the day the boxes when working are brill - think we are all entitled to be P*s*ed Off when anything that we purchase in good faith is knackered.
Also agree that the recent posts will put people off buying for a bit - maybe as well - perhaps its whats needed to get things back on track!
On a bit of a selfish note hope I have a real rather than fake box when I need to update - wouldnt know either way as nothing to compare it to! Will def be posting on here for help anyway.
    ONCE AGAIN - CHEERS!!!!!!

Yes that is the cable that I have, but there is no place to attach it to my pc so I connected it to the RS232 cable then to my PC. Everything seems right to me but there must be something I'm doing wrong if the percentage just stays at zero when I try to download!

How long should it take to move?

Should I change a setting on the actual Star View box?

I didnt use any kind of CD - any other suggestions????

ok, so what youve got there is a usb-to-serial adaptor. The supplied cd contains drivers as windows doesnt have them. once the drivers are installed you need connect the adaptor to the starview via the null RS232 cable. once you done this you can then run GTROM loader to update starview.
    hope this helps

gtrom is the program you use to transfer the update to the starview. I doubt it will be on the CD you got with the usb adaptor. If you didnt get a CD with the starview you will have to download the GTROM app and the update file. The update file has different versions, the most common one that people use is 257 but what ever you do, stay away from 260 as theres a chance it may kill your starview. The files can be downloaded from the beginning of this thread

check com port settings on pc, make sure they match the GTROM settings, transfer rate = 115200 com port either 1,2,3 or but they have to match. are you usng a usb adaptor?
