hi i have not got a null cable but i was looking through my stash of old stuff and found a cable with 1 end which fits the starview and another end which fits the printer port at the back my pc...will this work for updating etc.

 

Hmmm! Probably not as it might not be a cross over cable and GTRom may not recognize the printer socket as a com.

 

parallel & serial ports are 2 totally different connections. the cable you described sounds a bit strange for a parallel cable. it sounds like a serial DB25 to DB9 cable used for old modems

 

can i as is there anywhere to download safe software for cloned starview boxes from and where to download software for the official boxes from

 

does anyone know of a site where users exchange channel list files

hey can anyone help me...well basically i used to have sky box office under the name tv1700..it used to work fine..events used to come on...but then it started saying bad or scrambled channel...so i deleted the channel and rescanned it..assuming that it would come back..but it didnt...can anyone tell me if sky box office is still on the starview box and if it is how to get it back?

you can only tune in channels that are on the n*l network. unfortunately true movies is not on ntl. you would need to be on sky to receive this.

hi guys, i live in dublin ireland and just got a starview box yesterday which i connected and had all the channels. this i was looking through setup and hit the factory reset button and have now lost all the channels i did a rescan found the channels but when i view the channel it is blank and says its scrammbled or bad channel. can I dont have any cable to update this box. can someone help me please?

djrio- have you turned the emu on? this descrambles your channels.go into your main menu press info on your remote then 2004,this brings the secret menu up,then turn the emu on and go to a subscription channel and let it update- once updated all channels will be descrambled.

 

Sorry to change the subject but can anyone tell me how to get the UFC live (if its possible)?
I got the one in manchester (thx tez) but I am desperate to find out if it is poss to view the events that are on in the states and maybe get spike tv.

pressed main menu then info and then 2004 as you said and nothing happened

 

when you info and 2004 it should give you the option of scrolling down to the bottom it will say key emu move the arrow across to turn it to on then exit and all your channels should be on.

 

dj rio,try going into the menu screen and pressing 1570 then hopefully your emu menu will appear.failing that go into the main menu and tell me what number the firmware in your box is.if it says 258e then that is why you cant access the hidden menu,its an out of date software you need 257 or even 260 (but be careful with 260 many problems have been had with it - 257 is safer)

just added a splitter to my set-up prior to hooking up the starview box, the splitter has powerpass and none powerpass outputs, I have plugged my cable box in to the standard out (not powerpass) and the box hangs on a blue screen on my TV with the word TUNE on the cable box, any ideas? I have bought a very good cable splitter and leads so loss of signal shouldn't be the problem...
