I would say that they are having problems matching the hertz frequency of the tuner to the MMDS convertor. MMDS is in the 2.5 Ghz range and must be down converted to 200 to 400 Mhzs range. Not sure but I think you need a power inserter for the down convertor also. Maybe they just thought it would be just simply replacing the Starview tuner with a particular DVB-T type tuner.

No Ferg actually took as we say a "chill pill" and helped them out, only after I received an apology though.

Maybe its the box or maybe its a signal problem.

better bring the box to your mates house first and see before you flash it as it might not need it

Tried the SV down a mates house who also is using a SV and it picked up SS1 and SS3 no problem. Returned and tried at home and of course no signal on those channels. So my problem must be to do with signal and not the box which is one thing ironed out. Noticed on a scan that the transponder that has the freq for SS1 and SS3 comes up as failure when autoscanning and doesnt work manually either.

Going to try bypassing the isolater to see if that doesn anything.

Not sure i can really tell VM to turn up the signal strength ?

Maybe i could bullshit a problem and get them to tweak it

When you say isolator do you mean splitter. Yes I would advise plugging it directly into the incoming coax feed. Failing that try a booster. I would also recommend checking your cabling or changing it to a good quality CT100 and using F type connectors. If you pay for a service from VM yes you could ask them to have a look, but obviously don't forget to make sure you hide the SV.

Isolater is attached on wall where the cable comes in and is this little box that i think is mainly to stop spikes blowing box and tv.

It didnt make any difference anyway

Try to get a channel dump for your area and provider. Download this to your Starview.
