What do you see when you ftp?

A bit about xISO...there are known issues with some versions of this app..The one to get is by Huge who has sorted the issues/faults (excellent!!)and made a real nice package..the yursoft ones don't always make correct xiso's (he admitted it was something to do with him not having an xbox when beginning the coding!!?? quite amazing it worked at all..good work) but try something easier like clonexb, I have 99% success with this and it's easy to use for ftp too.

Other connection problems seem to be a bit random, some days it just won't work, try a reboot of pc and xbox together after changing settings

Well done Paco!! have you got the desktop going yet..I have no idea about passive mode in ws_ftp, it just worked straight off so I havent looked

Im still trying to get my desktop to work again with FTP. Although I can ftp with my laptop it is sooooooo much slower. My laptop is an older Dell Latitude with a P3 with 256 mem and 40gb hd. What once took me 30min from start to finish now takes me over 4 hrs mainly because it goes to laptop temp then writes to my external hd after that the rest is down hill

    Paco..

Can you connect your laptop and pc together..just an idea 2 test the nic..otherwise maybe try this....
    XBOX NETWORK SETUP GUIDE

    1. disable any firewalls (or set them to ALLOW when trying to connect to your xbox).

    2. Disable the LAN connection and connect the crossover cable to pc and xbox.

    3. Right click the LAN connection (under START/CONTROL PANEL/NETWORK CONNECTIONS), click "properties", under the "general" tab, go down the list, click on "Internet protocol (TCP/IP)" then click properties again. Use the following settings;-
    IP Address: 192.168.1.100
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

    Click OK.

    4. On your desktop, you need to see an icon labelled "My Network Places" (If its not there, right click on your desktop, click "properties", click "desktop" tab, then click "customize Desktop...", tick the box at the top for "My network places" and click OK, and again OK to exit display properties).
Right click on "My Network Places" and select "add new network place", then click the writing which says "sign up for online storage or connect to a network server", a wizard thing pops up, click NEXT, the next screen brings up a list of service providers, highlight the 1 which says "Choose another network location........." then click NEXT, in the space type this
    ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.1.200
click NEXT, the next page is the name, your choice, I just put XBOX on mine, click NEXT, then untick the box (open this..... when finished", click FINISH

NOTE: ALL THE SETTINGS ABOVE ARE ASSUMING THEY ARE LEFT AS DEFAULT ON EVOX, IF YOU CHANGED THEM PUT THE PASSWORD BACK TO "XBOX" AND THE IP BACK TO 192.168.1.200 OR THESE SETTINGS WONT WORK!!!

    5. On xbox, goto settings and make sure it says "use static IP" YES.

    6. Reboot your xbox, on evox dash it should display the IP as 192.168.1.200 (if it does not take note of step 5. and make sure the IP is set to this).

    7. Re-Enable the LAN on your pc, a bubble pops up "LAN Connection 100.0 Mbps ..."

    8. Finally, double click the "My Network Places" icon on your desktop and open the folder named XBOX (or whatever you specified in step 4.) and it should show you your xbox hard drive (C,E,F,X,Y,Z and D is the DVD-Rom).

thanks 2 xboxd00d over at xboxscene..(with slight edit 2 make it work 4 me)....

    Yup...that's the guide..

Its the NIC card. I purchased a 2nd card just for the xbox and left the original for the net. When I first set it up it worked great. so what I did was put the xbox in the orig eathernet port setup my settings and BINGO it works like normal. The card with the problem is "Linksys EatherFast 10/100 LAN Card LNE100TX ver.5.1" Im reinstalling the driver for it, lets see what happens...
    Thanks a WHOLE lot :)

im having a slight problem... the ISO i burned is 4.39 gb, and the dvd i have holds 4.7 gb, and it says there isnt enough room! do i need a bigger dvd?

    Glad that worked 4u buggzy...
I got an old M$ loopback card that won't play nice as well...

Does anybody know how to change an iso from cd to dvd??..I'm talking about slayers 2.6 which insists it has to go on a cd, I set the drive for dvd but it will only attempt to burn a cd and takes my options away...not much good with a tommy!!
    I been stumped for weeks..

I already tried taking the files apart and re-xisoing..there seems to be some sort of media check in there??
I tried nero 6 and decripter..
    How do I do this??

I had a thought..Maybe mount the files on a virtual drive (Alcohol 120) and then try burning that image?? edit...That got it!!!

Warhawk..the measuring of file sizes seems to go wrong with xbox stuff, try taking some other files out or use different burning software..maybe BlindWrite 5?

    Hey all

I'm using GDFImage GUI and it says
"Select the folder you want to convert to XDFS File System"
Does any one know what this means?

Then it asks for the path and filename of the XBOX ISO

after that you click on CONVERT

I tried all this and Halo 2 is missing

The XDFS is the filing system the xbox uses for reading discs. Basically, you want that. Also, when it asks for the location, pick the folder (depends on what GUI you're using) where the xbox files are.

Hey, I'm sort of new to xbox mods. I actually modded my xbox almost a year ago, but had a problem with ftp. I have a smartxx v2 chip with evox_M8 bios (xbox is 1.6 version), and evox dash. Bottom line is I've tried all the settings on probably every flippin tutorial out there and none of them work on the evox dashboard. However, the smartxx chip comes with its own little ftp function, which allows access to the C,E, X,Y,Z folders. But it does not access the D: (the most important one in my mind), nor does it access the F drive (I have a 120 gig hd). So, I can successfully ftp using the smartxx ftp function but I got nothin on evox, and I'm using the exact same settings. I don't mean to make this long but I already know most of the first questions I will be asked so I'll try to answer them first.
I have a crossover cable with 2 nic. And yes I know its a crossover cable.
    XBOX Settings:

    Setup network: YES
    Static IP: 192.168.1.200
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: 192.168.1.100

    PC:

    IP: 192.168.1.100
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.1.1

SmartXX ftp settings are exactly as above.
Also, just another note, I have tried connecting xbox to xbox to play multiplayer halo, and I also got nothin on that. No connection period. If anybody has any ideas please, I'll try anything, and if I've already tried it I'll try it again. Another side note, it does play burned games and I used Slayers Auto-installer to format and load the programs on the xbox.

    Thanks

@ smokey..have you tried the guide I posted earlier?

    If so try these settings..

    XBOX

    IP..192.168.1.100
    sub..255.255.255.0
    gate..192.168.1.1

    PC

    IP..192.168.1.1
    sub..255.255.255.0
    gate....nothing

Check your evox.ini file to see if your settings are correct and enabled..If you really want I can post a sample from a working connection...pm me if so..
Make sure there is a gap in your firewall for the connection..
Try ws_ftp pro for your ftp server...
    Bash head on wall!!!

If all else fails clear the lot and reboot everything and start again

Okay I tried that and I get the same results . Smartxx works, Evox doesn't, and the settings are exactly the same. Okay this is the process in which I installed everything:
    1) Installed smartxx mod chip
    2) Flashed evox M8 bios using smart xx Operating system.
    3) Installed Evox Dashboard to C: using smartxx ftp.
    4) Purchased the wrong cable
    5) purchased the right cable
    6) Changed ftp settings on evox to the proper settings.
    7) Tried every frickin setting available
    8) threw the xbox in the trash
    9) got it back out and tried again
    10) I'm still here beating my head on the wall

Oh And I threw it across the room when I found out I couldn't connect to another xbox either. What good is my xbox???? NONE GOOD

Okay, are there changes that I absolutely have to make to the evox ini file that will cause my box to do this to me? I'm guessing I have to change something in the ini file, but I don't know what to change and how to change it without muffing everything up. If you can send me a copy of what I'm supposed to change in the ini file and tell me how to change it as well, cause it seemed to me that I couldn't just click on the file and delete the "No"'s and change them to "YES"'s. Anyway man, any help is better than none, cause I'm not getting anywhere on my own. Thanks
