Hi guys, its been a long time! I have been burning Blu Ray with Ryu's original BD to DVD-9 guide for quite some time now but lately I have had some issues with downloaded HD content. The content in question comes in a .MKV container. I making the HD content into a Blu Ray compatiable DVD-9 just like the guide says. I follow the normal steps of the guide, but after I encode the video it stutters for some reason. The stutter looks like someone is clicking play / pause every 0.5 seconds. This is not happening with all the MKV. content I work with, just some of it. I have looked through the Media Raw info to see what differences in the source material might be holding me up but I cannot see anything that *should* be causing this problem. Here is the Media Raw info from the source material: General Complete name : C:\Users\TypoKnig\Desktop\someHDcontent.mkv Format : Matroska File size : 8.73 GiB Duration : 2h 1mn Overall bit rate : 10.3 Mbps Encoded date : UTC 2009-03-28 08:54:16 Writing application : mkvmerge v2.0.2 ('You're My Flame') built on Feb 21 2007 23:40:55 Writing library : libebml v0.7.7 + libmatroska v0.8.1 Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High@L4.1 Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 5 frames Muxing mode : Container profile=Unknown@4.1 Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC Duration : 2h 1mn Bit rate : 8 302 Kbps Nominal bit rate : 8 741 Kbps Width : 1 920 pixels Height : 800 pixels Display aspect ratio : 2.400 Frame rate : 23.976 fps Resolution : 24 bits Colorimetry : 4:2:0 Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.225 Writing library : x264 core 67 r1125M 10d6ef0 Encoding settings : cabac=1 / ref=5 / deblock=1:-1:-1 / analyse=0x3:0x113 / me=umh / subme=7 / psy_rd=1.0:0.0 / mixed_ref=1 / me_range=16 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=2 / 8x8dct=1 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / chroma_qp_offset=-2 / threads=6 / nr=0 / decimate=1 / mbaff=0 / bframes=3 / b_pyramid=0 / b_adapt=2 / b_bias=0 / direct=3 / wpredb=1 / keyint=250 / keyint_min=25 / scenecut=40 / rc=2pass / bitrate=8741 / ratetol=1.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=10 / qpmax=51 / qpstep=4 / cplxblur=20.0 / qblur=0.5 / vbv_maxrate=50000 / vbv_bufsize=50000 / ip_ratio=1.40 / pb_ratio=1.30 / aq=1:1.00 Language : English Audio ID : 2 Format : DTS Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems Codec ID : A_DTS Duration : 2h 1mn Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 1 536 Kbps Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel positions : Front: L C R, Surround: L R, LFE Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Resolution : 24 bits Language : English If you guys have any ideas I would like to hear them!
Re-encoding it would make the new video completely playable... unless there is something wrong with the source file.
Unfortunately that is not how it is working for me. The source file plays perfectly but after re-encoding the video develops the stutter I wrote about.
For comparison here is the Media Raw Info from AFTER re-encoding from the video stream that is stuttering. My computer configuration is very very old, and the running speed was slow since I installed the video converter program. Now I need a new converter or converter service. Is there anybody who can recommond a good on-line video converter to me? which can transfer mpg to flv? Don't want to install a program any more.
Hi, I don't know what I'm doing. But I'm trying. All the terminology is difficult to understand. My goal: To take my Blue-Ray Movie and tv-show collection and make it into a more manageable format, lop off trailers, and yet still keep the same very high quality. I'd like for the resulting file to be compatible with PCs, xbox-360, and ps3 if at all possible. If I have to use 4 different programs to achieve that goal, and each of those take 5 hours to run, then I'll never get the job done. I'll settle with a quick TSMuxer that only works on PCs. So that's where I started. I used ANYDVD HD to "rip to Hard drive." The resulting file works great, and the trailers are gone. But I have a pile of folders. AnyDVD HD will "rip to ISO" but nothing can play ISO ... So I fire up TSMUxer and I've read to go to the .0000 mts file. When I do that, I only get audio on a trailer that does not play when I load this media into TotalSoft Mediaplayer 3. Odd. Why was that file created in the first place? So then I try to rip the largest .mts and I get a 784 megabyte file that does not play. So, as I said at first, I really don't know what I'm doing. But I'm trying at least
Hello everyone... I know I mentioned that I would get around to creating new Blu-ray and AVCHD (BD5/BD9) profiles that are compatible with the newer x264 builds. Well, I have finally found time to do it. So here they are... I have uploaded MeGUI v0.3.1.1060 with all plug-ins and profiles as a complete package. Please don't forget to go into the settings to set-up the directories that you wish to use on your PC. Especially the x264 log/stats file. http://www.mediafire.com/?nuamzhgwjn1 The exiting news is that the new x264 build incorporates a new option called "MB-tree". It's all quite technical how it works but put simply it can increase compression efficiency by up to 70%!!
Does anyone know of a program or a process using multiple programs that will allow me to either rip only certain chapters from a Blu-Ray or that will automatically split into separate files for each chapter. I know chapter information is not stored in the m2ts file. DVDFab6 doesn't allow you to select chapters or even start end times. Pavtub/Moyea Blu-Ray Ripper is suppose to have the feature but it doesn't work on my Vista (64-bit) for some reason. Not sure if the current release is just broken or it has something to do with my PC. The interface looks pixelated, not sharp/smooth and when the View Log window pops-up there is no way to close it. It's like the interfact isn't working right. Bizarre. HDConcertRipper correctly shows all the chapters within the main movie file. It is just a gui for eac3to though and only rips the audio track. Fount a program over at Doom9 called bdsplice but it appears it takes separate chapters and splices them into one file, not separate chapter files. Help!
About the same... One thing you will notice is the new stats file that can grow quite large. I just completed an encode and the MB tree log file was 1.9GB.
Thanks for the heads up. How much testing was put into your new profiles? Is the quality equal, or better? Are you in need of feedback?
Hey Ryu77, can you please explain the x264 log/stats file and how to set its directory? I'm going to run your HQ profile on a 28GB movie. I'm excited to see how much more compression I can get!
With Ryu77's profile select in the dropdown box, press the "Config" button right next to the profile selection box. In this screen you can change the directory of the Log file, place it where ever you want... I have mine in the MeGUI folder. Just navigate to the folder you wish to have the log file, use the "..." button, now where it says "File Name" type .stats That's it. You'll need to do this the first time you use a different profile.
I have only done one encode in full but I had to start a number of partial encodes to correctly set up the new x264 build and remain Blu-ray compliant. The quality looks slightly better but I was working with material that had a fair bit of film grain. It seemed to be able to retain a lot of that without the need for smoothing which can sometimes result from too much compression. I have raised the maximum peak bitrate to 24mbs (24,000kbs) which technically is AVCHD spec only for SD cards. However most of the current lineup of Blu-ray players can handle this without any issue. If anyone has an older model, it might help to reduce this down to 17,000kbs. Any feedback is always welcome.
You do realise that depending on the bitrate you allocate, the filesize will be the same. By more efficient compression I mean that you will gain an improved SSIM index, in other words quality will improve at the same bitrate compared to the older x264 encoder.
I get an unexpected end of archive error in winrar when I try to unzip the MeGUI package, anyone else getting this?
