    As far as I am aware, larger percentage increase = better OC, so:

    2.4GHz -> 3.4GHz = 41.6% OC

    3GHz -> 4GHz = 33.3% OC

    Therefore, my OC is better with a vastly cheaper chip, lol :p

    There aren't any major speed differences between a Q9450 and a Q6600. So I am just as glad to have the Q6600 at 3.4GHz.

    Haha yeah but his 4Ghz chip is as fast as yours would be at 4.4Ghz... :p

    It's always easier to get a higher overclock out of a lower chip clocked chip. If I had a Q9450 with EO stepping it would be faster than yours at 3.4 GHz but with EO stepping it will clock higher to say 3.6 GHz.

    Right now I am folding on 4 cores at 90% now try that and see how your 3.4 GZhz comes out.:p

    I was being modest and you know it if you know me even a little. My point was that an EO stepping Q9450 is going to overclock easily. It already starts with a 266 Mhz advantage over the Q6600. It could easily hit 3.7 GHz and with the right memory 3.8 GHz and higher. Now consider that the Q9550 is going for the same price and EO steppings are showing up.

    This. I see a lot of OC talk in here too which there are separate threads for already. Came in looking for mobo for a build for my mother that is cheap, something with integrated graphics. It seems like everything like that on newegg are micro-ATX boards. Is there a specific reason why ATX boards seem to stray away from on-board video?

    Overclocking with integrated graphics is difficult, that greatly hampers your OC ability.

    Integrated graphics are limited in performance and become obsolete very quickly. You would be better off purchasing a decent budget board and graphics card for a few buck more. This would allow you to upgrade your video in a couple of and squeeze a couple more years out of your rig before having to replace it.

    This won't be OC'd, I was talking more about the direction of the thread but they are all old posts anyways. Looking in the around 75$ price range I see the 4670. I might just wait until some big sale comes up on redflagdeals. I've seen some older stuff go for around 40$ that would suit my mother fine. All she does is the basic word, internet, excel stuff. Basically just need something that works as she doesn't even watch video on the thing.

    The HD4670 is a powerful gaming card. Something cheap like an X1650 would work fine for basic use, or hell, even integrated.

    Yeah, as a low mid-range card, the 4670 is outstanding for the price and performance offered. But it's meant for gaming, so it might be way overkill for a home and office machine. They're cheap performance though, so the option is there to game :p

    For watching movies(maybe) and office work, you can go much cheaper.

    This will do everything you need it to and then some. It's a bit more tailor made for video acceleration than game performance. It'll be quieter too as that particular one has a fanless cooler.

    Interesting choices, makes a change to see a system that uses different components to the ones we usually recommend.

    Yeah it looks like a solid build and well priced too. I don't see any components on that list you should be concerned about.

    Well lets see some posted builds? Nah, most people don't got the time, I understand. Here is one I did, It includes everything needed for a whole new computer (Price in CDN). The mail in rebates also aren't listed with the price, but with them its just under a thousand.

    I wasn't sure on the processor, but it was the same price as the Q6600 but 45nm and starting at a bit bit lower. A 45 nm and 65 nm at the same FSB, the 45nm is faster correct? But the 65nm can function at higher temps, hard call.

    The Q8200 isn't as fast per clock as the other 45nm chips due to its smaller cache, and can't overclock anywhere near as well as the Q6600 due to its lower multiplier, but at stock the 8200 and 6600 perform similarly, and the 8200 is usually slightly cheaper.
