    oh most definately :)

sammorris here, our 25k+ poster had, for along time, an overclocked Q9550 (quad core at 3.6GHz) AND a 4870x2 with a 520W PSU, so you are perfectly fine :)

trust me. a corsair PSU which states it is 400W means it can easily take upto 500W. and when ASUS says 550Ws, its caus it wants to cover its arse when people use very cheap PSUs.

if there is ONE thing in your PC that should have quailty it is the PSU, as if its cheap, it can possibley kill you. and thats no joke.

if you want to risk it, go ahead but i say get the PSU first and then the 4850.

Power supply calculators are absolute crap. I've seen some read 810W for PCs that only need 380-400W of power to run, they're shocking. A Corsair CX 400W PSU is ample for your system, whereas an EZCool 550W is certainly not sufficient.
Agreed on the HD4850 it blows the 9800GT out of the water (even the cheaper HD4830 beats a 9800GT)
Get the PSU first and then the graphics card. The PSU is the most important part of any PC, for safety reasons.

Yeah what they said. PSU then video card. Hate to be a party pooper too but you will still have a bad CPU bottleneck with a Pentium D. Just saying... Even a new Celeron dual core will be worlds faster.

Remember, PSU calculators, are simply showing the MAX MAX, PEAK PEAK, should one ever be running ALL hardware at their peak wattage Simultaneously. Which just isn't gonna happen. The calculator is completely mathematical. That is assuming that its information about given wattages is/are correct. Honestly, there not much more than a guideline. You only need a 550W PSU if you plan on running ALL the hardware in your tower simultaneously. Corsair is a good company. They UNDERRATE there PSU's. I love it when companies do that :D Certainly much better than a company that OVERRATES there shiznit! My primary system may very likely be running a time bomb! I will NOT make that mistake again. So far it has been OK though. As soon as i'm able, a Corsair will replace my current PSU. Now I just hope that I didn't hex the company LOL! *Knocks on wood*

Yeah Pentium Ds are pretty crap CPUs.
    Example about PSUs: A 550W EZcool will be around 140W. A 430W Thermaltake will be 250W. A 700W OCZ will be 600W, A 750W Corsair will be 800W.

Ehh...business is business. They have certain loopholes that allow them to get away with it. I've never owned an intel, afraid I can't help you there. Perhaps one day I'll own one, if they ever come down to a more affordable practical price LOL!

We need to know what motherboard you have, older boards can't always accept newer processors.
