Shaff: Old news is old, it was made very clear by ATI they weren't going to allow the use of the X series in Windows 7 a long time ago.
As for the second post, nobody said gaming in Vista was slow, they said it had a higher CPU overhead, which it does. Graphically, the new versions of DirectX are better, so if you're GPU limited not CPU limited, you get better performance.
I noticed no change in games performance moving from Vista to Win7, I will make that abundantly clear.

hear about Activision getting ribbed for there being civilian mass homicide in COD6? They've demanded people pull the videos of it from the net, but chances are there'll be a hidden copy somewhere they didn't find...

Seems I owe Codemasters an apology. The frame rate issues in Dragon Rising aren't the game's fault at all, it's a bug with Catalyst 9.10 - it affects the Left 4 Dead 2 Demo as well (which by the way is very impressive - pass my congratulations onto Miles Rich - the new models and animations are amazing, a considerable improvement on the original game). Fortunately, the L4D2 demo only causes the fps drop on level start (so once per map), and it's solvable with an Alt-Tab, which sadly OFDR doesn't support. Having not heard that many cases of this, it must be that 9.10 is incompatible with Quad crossfire. On that basis I will roll back to 9.9 and retest.

Edit: Sigh, it's permanently affixed to the OS, you can't fix it until a reformat. DO NOT INSTALL CATALYST 9.10 (win7 64-bit at least) if you have a multi-graphics setup.

Perhaps Vista and 7 are extremely similar. But my upgrade from XP to 7 was astounding! VERY happy camper. Gaming is several times more smooth than XP. That could just be me though :p I must admit though. My XP machine is very content as my offline computer. It runs next to my Windows 7 machine like its competing LOL! Never any lag, always ready to go go go :D It just can't beat that quad though ;)

I think im noticing another problem with my VGA connection sam. That or my...Splitter is on the fritz. I was noticing some ghosting today while in photoshop. I also get another curious bug. Can't wait to upgrade to DVI and see what other bugs are gone. Such a shame my monitor doesn't support dual input. That would sure be expensive though eh.

I think I have a solution to my "Your, You're" problem. Perhaps I can stop using contractions like data speaks(star trek character). LOL!

haha perhaps, just use 'you are'. We don't want you turning into Lore now do we? :p

As far as ghosting goes, VGA splitters are well known for that problem. Digital video splitting solves it.

Digital Video Splitting? You mean the same device but employs DVI connections right?

Wish I could say the same lol. Most of my games are being a pain to work with in win7 since they're so old XD

Well then they have probably over rated their product! It states that its capable of 1920 X 1440. While I agree it can handle that resolution, it does not handle it well. Wow, I have had this sucker since June of LAST year LOL!

Time to toss it in the trash though LOL! Well...I will not go that far ;) I'll probably just be running my Quad only here soon, and just run a DVI cable properly to my monitor. My other computer is going to my mother. She's now having money trouble and desperately needs the new computer. I am sure my Dual core MSI tower is gonna blow her mind :)

I was looking at some DVI KVM's and am not impressed with the pricing LOL! Yes, I am cheap. The only tempting one I saw was a belkin and it was over 100$. And had rather poor reviews too.

Omega: that's just the maximum resolution of VGA.
Keith: I posted an article like that a while back. It was immediately obvious the GT300s were fake, long before anyone confirmed it.

Just got done with the L4D2 Demo. Very nice. Source has yet to meet its doom. In fact, I don't think Source Engine really has limits as far as textures and models because it's entirely modular. We may be seeing Source games in 2015 that are right up to par with other games.

Just purchased Borderlands.... Good game as far as I can tell but the online is broken which is why I bought it. I cannot connect to roughly 9/10 established servers and I can't connect to any of my local friends at all. We've tried everything from disabling our firewalls to forwarding ports as suggested on a few forums. Even some of the servers are named "working" or "ports open" so I'm not the only one with a problem. So WTF. Release a game with hyped 4 player co-op yet it doesn't work? F*** you developers. I'm taking it back and pirating it if there isn't a patch by the end of the weekend.

Yeah that's a problem I've heard about with Borderlands. Very impressed with the L4D2 demo. If Rich gets a hold of it, I'm sure we'll hear all about it :)

Yes Left 4 Dead 2 may actually warrant full price for a game only a year later. They've improved it in a lot of big ways. I must admit I doubted heavily that it would be a big change but I forgot Valve's reputation is well deserved. Not only that but they will continue support of the first game as they are supposedly not a linear series but two different chapters in one larger story. They're already hinting at a few new maps :)

The problem with Borderlands is frustrating to say the least. I mean WTF they used Gamespy for cripesake. They better get it fixed because the problem carries over to consoles. A friend just got the 360 version and it has a similar problem except that port forwarding fixed it.

Gamespy is approximately equal to Games for Windows live is approximately equal to useless.

I am well aware. Note my overall frustration. The only reason to use Gamespy these days is Battlefield 2 and then it just barely works well enough to use it. I get kicked often(once a day at least) for no reason.

Games for Windows Live isn't too bad. Not quite as bad as Gamespy at least. Only for the sole fact that it actually works for me...

I think my KVM VGA cable may be failing. I get this curious extreme flickering. MAJOR flickering actually. Generally only when I use the, "Elliptical Marquee Tool" in photoshop. No doubt something is happening there that the splitter just can't transmit properly.

Its like extreme banding, while blinking repeatedly RAPIDLY, LOL! I can't wait to run the DVI cable to prove to myself that that is indeed what is going on :) I suppose it could simply be a bad VGA cable...

Yah, the other machine doesn't have the problem. Gotta be a bad vga cable/connection/Pin. I can't see a driver causing a severe problem like this.
