I agree, and I have always set them for 2.1, but I remember during setup on this board (GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H ) that +.3 is in the BIOS red zone so i started out at +.1 and...then set it at +.2 for 2.0v and it seems to work again.

    Perhaps this badboy.

But then, perhaps simply trying to replace the fan, with a fan of same/similar specifications is all you need. I would probably just do that. Unless my card were running on the warm side beforehand. THEN I would attempt to give it a better cooler ;) I'm sure newegg has a fan that meets your needs.

Well, as said already, you can either get a replacement fan the same, or buy an aftermarket cooler. Thankfully a 7600GS isn't too difficult to cool.

Guys, i'm sure it was discussed in one of the threads recently, but i'm wanting to get some kind of air compressor.
Today my main pc started it's once in a while game of hide and reboot. Most annoying when it happens, it always make you think it's something you just installed. Back when it used to first happen i would reinstall Windows 'over the top' but when it happened again after that i realised it was dust buildup. A few months back i cut some women's tights and placed on the front of the case (Antec 900) which cuts airflow a tad but keeps most of the dust out.
Anyways, some dust still gets in and so far today the machine has stayed up without rebooting after a good clean out of the Zalman fan and the Corsair RAM fan. Now i'm not one for dismantling the PC to clean (or even tidy the wiring) as more often than not such a task results in instability from knocking something. We have a commercial air compressor at work but there's no way i'm moving this monster of a machine, even once, never mind risking damage by transporting by car, so i want to buy a compressor of some sort, something with low maintenance if there's such a beast. (Cans of compressed air is not an option, as good as they are i'm not paying for air).
    Ideas ?

Er, not sure to be honest. I never find I need to go to the extent of spraying air around the place to get my system stable. Generally no matter how dusty or otherwise it is inside, any stability problems are either from something that's actually faulty, or software issues OS-side. Personally if you have to keep your PC spotless to stop it rebooting, I think you have an issue you need to work out. Perhaps run some memory tests?

Nah, i did memory tests for hours the first time this happened (and a few other times), that and all other tests and troubleshooting (including running off linux live cd's and linux USB sticks) came up empty. As i say, it only happens once in a while and it always goes away without anything other than careful cleaning of the CPU fan. All of the Antec's fans are permanently on full (loud but good airflow), it's literally only happening due to the Zalman getting (slightly) bunged up from time to time, of that i'm 100% sure.
As i say, since i've had the tights on the front of the case the dust intake has been drastically reduced (i don't keep the Antec on the floor), the cat (who's the size of a tiger) moults (no idea how that's spelt) endlessly so even with the case up on the desk the PC attracts more crud that it otherwise would.
The long/small brush i use is obviously working, i just want something a little more efficient. If a small compressor is too expensive i'll stick with the brush. I'd buy compressed air cans as long as it was thru work but can't justify it being as we have the industrial compressor to use).

Haha leaking and blown capacitors are extremely common on 7600 series cards. Had two 7600GTs myself with the same issue. If you look at newegg, all the bad reviews that are after a year usually point to blown caps.

If I remember rightly, moreso with EVGA non-reference cards than other brands, which is where my scepticism of EVGA began. Only one decent partner left for nvidia now really which is Palit.

To be honest, unless you bought it second hand long after they were first made, we wouldn't have been able to tell you. Stuff like this often only tends to materialise after the cards are obsolete and no longer sold.

Zotac seem to make decent stuff for nvidia actually, to be fair. However, I didn't really consider Gigabyte/MSI/Asus as they're more generic than they are partners. They make all sorts of other stuff too. Either way, of the original 'big three' - BFG, XFX, EVGA, only EVGA are left, and they, in my mind, were the weakest of the three.

their GTX460s are getting rave reviews, very OCable, quiet and very good coolers for their non ref versions. Can't comment on other cards. Palit, though i like, and are asias biggest nvidia partner sent different cards to reviews tthan to retail, which seems didgy. No VRM cooling on the retail versions, loud fans aswell, till they issued a bios update.

The two 7600GTs I had were Evga but they were reference AFAIK. It was the stock Nvidia cooler with literally an Evga sticker over the top....

creaky: Just go to home depot and buy one of their $100.00 Air Compressor.
Don't forget to check if an Air Hose comes with. Mainly what you need is 2 sets of Quick Couplings, Air Hose 25 ft min. , Dust blower .
I bought one large enough to blow up tires , run air guns , nailers , etc. . Only payed 100 bucks. You can find 50, 60 buck ones that work fine, you just need something with a little backbone

Hears an Air Compressor pretty much got everything you need 99.00 bucks
