    Don't know, Andy. All I know is the people that have such a problem with the safety valve that they feel the need to make a thread about it, are genrally the people who spend way too much of their time in here.

    [bold]Why bother making it then??[/bold] If you are so sure it's going to get closed, then it's obviously nothing constuctive

    @darth-

    hehe, just following in your footsteps then, lol :)

    lmao!! I wish I had time to write...your comment about "Lord of the Flies" couldn't be more appropriate! Sounds like we could have some fun with this and create our own game! We'll choose the alpha male of each group (no wait, one doesn't "choose" an alpha male, I think we need to butt heads or something of the sort), anyway, we could create our own little wars. AD's anarchists vs. the establishment. Sounds fun.

    @Jamzbond

    I promise to PM you soon; things have been rather nuts for me the last couple of days. Your PM to read and participate in this thread, along with the whole first half of the posts might force me into a discussion on relativism. This would be disasterous as the anarchists and the establishment would join forces and pound on me, they'd all make nice and I would have been singularly responsible for the end of this thread. Where would we be then?

    P.S. I just had another though; aren't our anarchists here just rebellious little youngsters? I think maybe this would be better solved with a good old fashioned spanking. (Now Jamz, I know you didn't invite me here to hear that sort of talk, yet, one must temper the intellect with amusement now and again lest we become humorless kurmudgeons [is "humorless kurmudgeon" an oxymoron? ah, a discussion for another occasion]).

    i've seen about 15 threads get closed recently. they're either closed because the topic has been discussed before or it's unsuitable. The what are you currently listening to thread is the best.

    I haven't seen much of Neph recently but Darth, Creaky, Ddp, etc are doing a fine job. This thread is still open.....and yet they said you guys were trigger happy. How audacious!. Le'me guess why though, hmmmm...... ran outa bullets?. lol

    @Gerry
    True to form you show up and get straight to the point. I agree, but the problem is that there's a 'B'-button on corporal punishment so we'll have to brainstorm an/some equally effective alternative/s. No worries about the PM. All in good time.

    - if only it were so. due to the offensive reports i have the (dis)pleasure of attending the console forums. if i didn't have kids already i'd have gone off kids altogether. compared to a lot of those forums the safety valve is a decent forum!.

    ddp and me have even renamed one of the thread titles to -

    "RUGBY LEAGUE 2 (**PS2 only**) - BACKUP PROBLEMS - NO EMAILS or flouting other Forum Rules", the title has been changed about 5 times to include further disclaimers. But the idiots still don't understand/read stuff. The title was originally "RUGBY LEAGUE 2" or something. Bloody ridiculous. i dunno how Lethal_B et all stay in forums like that, but then i guess some decent ppl have to otherwise it'd be utter chaos!. if i had my way i'd rename entire forums to "Gardener's Weekly" or something

    Here's my fave flamer http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/206402

    @andy: naw, maybe I worded it wrong. I mean threads like this, and other threads like "How did JFK die". That's what I mean by pointless crap. ;)

    Well I guess I'll add my comments. One of the reasons I don't post much on here anymore is because of threads like this. They pop up everywhere and we all know why they are started. Everyone wants to pad their post count. Thats the only reason for useless threads along with the 1 word answers and replys like I AGREE, YEA, HE'S RIGHT. I have no problem with the mods closing these type threads. I see the same situation on several other forums I belong to where statis is regulated by post count. I guess it can't be helped but don't come down on the mods for doing their job. Most forums are set up to help members with problems not to become CHAT ROOMS.

    Sorry if this rubs some members the wrong way but being a member here over 2 years makes me worry about the direction the main forums are going. If you want to boost your post count, try helping someone that has a problem.

    Guess i might as well stick up for the thread! As i agree with it.

    Good comments made by DVDBack23 said "2. Things that arent really "kid-friendly", ie. smoking weed, killing people, etc."
    Various people including mods have views on cannabis and smoking weed.

    Darthnip "The main thing is, and this one's the real clincher, it's OUR site. that also means OUR rules, which wear put into place by the owners of the place and are enforced by us mods." Are there any hand gestures to go with comment. lol

    Also said about this being a tech forum, lots of threads nothing to do with tech, such as the "thank you" thread, "i need help with french", and "what ur favourite sport"

    I did enjoy Lethal B's stark "what gives you the right to publicly question a moderating decision??"

    As a member of the forums (unless i get booted) i looked up the word member in the dictionary and amongst other defenitions was "One that belongs to a group or an organization: a club member;"

    What sought of groups or organizations do not let members question descisions made by its leaders?

    I will leave you to draw your own conclusions.
