Tutorial: How to FTP in to your Xbox

Hey, I'm not technical at all. And I was wondering if I could use my ethernet cable that came with my broadband to transfer files from my computer to my xbox.

 

What you need to do is find out if it's a crossover or a straight one.

Hold the 2 ends side by side and look at the colors of the wires inside. If they are in the sane places it's no good..If different then go for it.

 

I can't seem to put anything onto my Xbox. I have suceeded in all the steps and am to the point to drag files over and everything. When I do, I get a reading that states that...

[R]Transfer Failed!
1 File failed to transfer

and now I am receiving a
[R]421 Too many users are connected please try again later.
[R]Connection failed

 

what Ftp program are you using?
are the file names that you are trying to transfer really long?

Because depending on what mod you have on your Box, you can only transfer a certain amount of text in the file name.
Most Ftp programs will not give you an explantion as to why.
But will give you, "Transfer Faled!"

 

Heres the rules for FTP concerning filenames.

File names must be less than 24 characters including spaces. They may not contain { ( ) ' or , and the only . allowed is immediately before the last 3 i.e. .mp3

The "too many users" problem is because you have reconnected attempting to transfer without disconnecting first. Don't just close the window..actively hit the disconnect button each time it fails.

Sounds like FlashFXP to me

Another Q.

I was messin around w/ XBMC but couldnt put anything in the proper place like Movies or Music from my Storage places. How do you transfer them? On storage I tried to copy but it would only let me delete.

 

hello everyone, I just modded my xbox with x3 ce chip, I just flashed it, now I want to ftp avalaunch onto, it has x3 config live I asume is the only dashboard besides original xbox dash, what are the settings I need to make this happen, is it possible, or would it be easier to burn it on disk then put on xbox

 

Now how do I get on xbox live..I did the tutorial.

 

@ jbadam01 Get yourself an xbox autoinstaller disk..otherwise you are in for a very long and disappointing few weeks trying to find working versions of all the needed software.

As for live. Read up about being modded on live or it's gonna be a very short online gaming experience. This is the wrong thread for that..

 

thanks janrocks, but I tried the AID 3.0, it didn't work but the original ms dash won't read burnt discs, somehow I lost the config live app or dash or whatever it is, I tried to self install avalaunch, but after that it wouldn't boot to x3 config live anymore, I went in through computer hotswap method and erased the files I had added, making it back to original xbox, tried reflashing, but still wouldn't go back to x3 config and it won't read burnt disc

@ jbadam01 It sounds a little like you have some sort of bad connection on the D0 point.. Check the connections.
Other than that.. Make double sure of the bank select on the front panel. If that seems good and you can get to the flash bios screen then when you boot hold the white button when you boot. That should bring up the c/l screen.
If not then you need to reflash the bios.

is ther a way to reset your password because my xbox wont connect and i know it a different password bc i had connection problems a few weeks ago and i called my phone company and they gave me the account and password but i forgot it i can still get on xbl i just need the pass 4 fxp

hi there, i'm new here.

having real trouble connecting xbox to pc in order to FTP. it is REALLY starting to get on my nerves now. if anyone can help you are truly awesome, here is my set of circumstances:

- i am connecting using a wired router
- i am connecting using a cat5e patch cable
- i am using flash fxp as my ftp package
- all firewalls and anti-virus is turned off
- i am using avalaunch PreAlpha v0.48.60 as my dashboard
regarding my (saved) xbox network settings, here they are:
DHCP: Enabled
Static IP: 192.168.0.180
Gateway IP: same as my PC
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
DNS1: 195.159.0.100
DNS2: 195.159.0.200
PROXY: Disabled
(PROXY IP: 10.0.0.1)
(PROXY port: 8080)

- when in flash fxp, i am entering the static IP as above as my Server or IP detail, with username and password both as "xbox"
- when attempting to connect, flash fxp tells me that i am connecting, then that i am connected - then it times out, time and again.


please help me before i tear all my hair out!

hi People, i have a problem Id like to resolve. its about my DNS server adress, my Xbox dosent seem to be able to reach it. but it does recognise the IP adress. the tuorial was a big help by the way.

also i have successfully connected my xbox to my pc before but now i cant remember how i did it. ive only managed to configure the IP and the subnet mask and now i only need to configure my DNS address i just cant seem to be able to do it ... can anyone help please?

 

I also need a little help...

I used to be able to do this without hassle on my other com but when it got spilt on, it doesnt work anymore. Now that im hooking up this com to my xbox, im going through alot of trouble. Here's what im working with:

Unleash Dash
FlashFXP
A HUB (don't have a router)
2 CAT Cables

Is my static IP supposed to be similar to my coms IP or Ethernet Adapter ?
Static was getting confusing so I tried to fiddle with DHCP. When I Switch to DHCP and reboot, my IP is 0.0.0.0
I don't know what happened ?

 

Hi there, I have a problem and cant find a solution. So can some one please help?
My xbox is 1.4 and my mod chip is Xecuter 3CE and i have flashed it with evox M8 1.0-1.5 512k and trying to install slayers auto installer 2.6 But need to backup harddrive before full install so need to connect my xbox to pc.I have used flashfxp with various correct settings and all it does is connect to xbox then after a minute says connection lost.I have also tried janrocks method on page 7 which i thought was going to be the one but connects then say's dont have permission to view folders.In slayers installer dash my xbox still has a 0,0,0,0 IP. I can connect to xbox and it keeps it, just wont let me access anything.Any ideas please i am totally lost.
