Right, I am getting very confused ....

According to the MaxDrive PC software I have the the GCOS file on the memory card.

    1) I put the memory card in the slot on the cube, put the MaxDrive GC dvd into the cube and turn it on. After about 20 seconds of the MaxDrive logo I get a "hardware read error" !!! The cube claims the memory card isn't formatted so I format it via the cube's memory functions.

    2) I then connect the memory card to the USB cable and the PC software claims the card is full - and the only thing I can do is format the card via the PC software and then add the GCOS file. Then go back to step 1.

Repeat this loop over and over again !!!!!

Don't know how ... but finally got it working again.

This time I copied the two 'files' onto another memory card. Tried with the normal memory card and it worked first time ;)

Problem I now have is the backup gives an "Unrecognised media format" error. Is this going be due to burning speed, make of DVD, burner, burner software ? Or any combination of these ?? [ Currently using Nero 7 on a Pioneer 101 I think it is ]

I have 24 of this DVD's now - and hope they weren't a waste. Couldn't find anyone who sold the Ritek G04 in the UK so had to go with another brand.

Well, i got the MDP and I tried to boot a game, "Media not recognized" so I guess I'll wait for my gamebit, and adjust that pot.

I don't suppose somebody would be kind enough to send me game backup on a RitekG04 DVD so that I can see whether I actually need to modify my POT before actually buying the kit I would need to do it.

    Done another burn using IMGBURN.

This time tested using DVDInfoPro ... Peak and Average were way over what they should be (500 and 80 respectively).

Tried the DVD in the gamecube - same result "not recognised".

But I am none the wiser if my problem is the burner (Pioneer DVR-105 with the latest firmware ... 2003 !!!), the discs I am using, or the cube :(

A pretty crummy mod system - if you ask me - if it can't give consistent results from one cube to the next.

Hi there, just bought MDP a few weeks ago and now its broken (thanks to little brother), is there any way I can get a backup of the MDP (the one that is for the GC) as they wont sell the disk by its self and I cant fork out another £30!

Also For those in the UK can you please tell me what mini DVDs you used and burners

    Thanks

    Same as mir_98 ...

I would be very interested to know what mini DVD-Rs are being successfully used by people in the UK.

I got the Mario 64 working with save games but I want to burn it on a mini dvd. I want to put some other N64, SNES and NES games too. How do I do this? And will it work with the GCos 1.5 with only the MDP softmod? Thanks! :)

Just ordered some Traxdata 8cm 1.4GB General Purpose 4x Speed DVD-R from www.digitalpromo.co.uk

The description only has only "Ritek" in the information, but the same product at www.eclipsecomputers.com states "Dye: RITEK G04".

£1.99 for 3 wasn't too bad a price I thought for testing purposes.

If I wanted to go down the modchip route instead ...

Would I still have the same issues about laser POT and media issues as with MaxDrive ? Or are modchips not as fussy ?

POT is a problem that appears with modchip or MDPro. You can't get around it.

Adam Brunt, those Traxdata DVD's are good. I got the same and got only 1 out of 10 that didnt work, probably my own fault also.

Anyone can tell me if multi-game dvd's work on GCos? And how to make em?
