Et aivan, bugikorjaukset yms päivitykset kyllä tulevat mutta varsinaiset isommat versio päivitykset eivät johtuen nopeasta kehitys syklistä. Julkaisun jälkeen distron kehitys siirtyy aina seuraavan version alle ja nykyinen jää ylläpito vaiheeseen. LTS versioissa tulee ns. point-release versioita ( esim. 8.04.1 joka on aikataulutettu heinäkuulle ) joissa tulee joitain isompiakin päivityksiä mutta näitä ei normaaleista puolvuotis versioista tule. Eli siis esim. 1.1.* päivitykset yleensä tulee mutta 1.*.0 päivitykset ei yleensä. Riippuu aina hieman ohjelmasta. ( Tämä siis ubuntun virallisissa repoissa. )

Tuo on ihan oikein! Voit kylläkin poistaa tuon cd-levyn ohjelmalähteistä. Valikko->Järjestelmä->Ylläpito->Ohjelmalähteet rasti pois ruudusta "Asennettavissa CD-levyltä"
Code: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade Päivittää pakettivarastolistauksen ja jos paketteihin on päivityksiä, niin myös paketit. Tuolla komennolla saat uusimmat versiot käyttöön, mitä ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbonilla on tarjota! Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heronissa on sitten taas hieman uudempia versioita, jotka myös päivittyy tiettyyn pisteeseen saakka. Ubuntu 8.10 XX on taas uudempia versioita, jotka taas päivittyy tietyyn pisteeseen saakka, jne.
Niinkuin sanoin edellisestä komennosta update= Pakettivaraston päivitys dist-upgrade= Pakettien päivitys uusiin versioihin. Ottaa huomioon riippuvuudet. pelkkä upgrade= pakettien päivitys.
