@xboxdvl, I am completely aware of your previous history and I know you've come back using a similar name. Where did I say you were banned from here for use of bad language.

@DG_B and as for your comment, I have been around here a little longer than you and I DO KNOW how much work the mods do. Are you boasting about how much trouble you give the mods. WHY?
if they didnt have to take so much bull from people like you they would have an easier time of it. Now the penny has dropped, you're the infamous Doggy bot.

i'd say if you wanted more....... imediate action, pm ddp, creaky, flip, or darth. they are quick, and even have no mercy on certain topics.
foul language is sometimes un-avoidable, but then again, rules are rules. i may use it, but attempt to hide it by spelling. that one i say above, well, by far was the worst i have seen in a while.
anyway, always keep in mind, there are loads of members in here who have never read the rules, much less care, and they are usually the first to get banned due to that anyway. then they return, and do it again, its just a cheap thrill, the excitement of the moment, a breif.... very breif 'high' for them. sooner or later, it gets dealt with.
in closing........(sounds like a speech) idiots will be idiots....

opened thread for a moment just so i can add my reply as i've hardly had chance to do much on AD today. I won't/don't tolerate any foul language on the forums, anything i see i edit/comment on or just ban outright if it's too much. we probably all swear like troopers elsewhere, but it has to stay off the forums

@ddp, I thank you for re opening this thread. I would appreciate other comments wheather in favour or against as that is the benefit of this forum, the freedom of comment.
I wish to re iterate that in my opinion the Mods overall do a splendid job, I would just like the support of others so we can get on top of this.

I myself have sworn on the forums on a couple of occassions. I can see where the mods are coming from when they have to think of the younger members and others who may take offense. But in all seriousness we've all sworn before and are swear words really that bad when you think about it. IMO they're not. That said i'm still complying by the forum rules and will keep swearing out of my posts.

I'm with gwen on this one, there is a time and place for swearing and it's certainly not here in the forums. A swear word (although NOT obscene) I feel is OK but not in the fashion of the offending thread, I hope the guy was banned.
I think what others outside the AD community must think if they read this in the threads.
The mods are getting to the point where they are getting overworked and shouldn't be subjected to this abuse from those who cannot hold their foul language.

i don't think anyone minds the odd (extremely) mild word such as 'crap' or whatever in a forum post, ie words that are fine in any conversation at work/in the street/pub or wherever, but what's absolutely not necessary is to use it on forums. In places like msn chats or whatever, swearing's fine if it's in conversation between ppl, and it's not 'carved in stone' like a forum, ie a forum post it's there for good; while i'm not offended by swearwords, either in a post or anywhere, it just shows lack of restraint to use swearing in a post. i personally don't care that foul language is against forum rules, what i mean is i don't believe it's acceptable to swear in a forum post on any site out there, regardless of any site's rules, it should just be common sense.

I swear like a trooper (well not in public places, only at work!) but seeing it in forum posts just winds me up and i cannot take any other comments seriously in a post if it's full of foul language/expletives.

You see i'm one of these parents who has virtually never sworn in earshot of my kids, not cus i'm square, inadequate or a prude or anything, i just believe in bringing them up to speak intelligently. they know what most of the swearwords are cus they're always in earshot, whether by ppl in the street, the tv, or school or whatever, but they know that swearwords have their place. Few things annoy me more than ppl who bring up their kids with every second word being offensive, so from a tiny age that child does the same. There would be nothing wrong with this if that same child also learned restraint from a young age, ie when NOT to use that same language. But they can't cus they're too young. And as to the console forums, my God i wish i could just ban entire forums, cus all i read are babyish "you're gay" and nonstop swearing/pointless unintelligent drivel. <rant over> :)

It's not the swearing that gets right on my nerves. At the moment, its the way people show great disrespect towards others' opinions & views. Also, some people are just so damn [bold]rude[/bold]!

i agree, but if they persist when they've been asked or told to keep some decorum, they are sent on their merry way. and if they're really pointless they keep signing up with new names, but even then they usually get bored quite quickly. but even if/when they behave as far as senior status everyone else still knows that poster is either pointless or whatever (if that person hasn't reformed that is)

I hear ya. I got into an argument with Glitched the other day about someone making a thread on a topic when there was already a thread about it. He had the same attitude as Doggy_Bot.

    Do I personally swear? YES.
How often do I swear? Daily, here and there.
Do I use the F word sometimes? YES.

Do I believe it’s necessary in ANY forum to express one’s self? NO
Do I believe it should be banned completely in the forums? YES

If there is a time when it would be necessary to use swear words I would suggest giving an example here in this thread, but without the actual swear word. :)

i agree. bad language doesnt have a place here. ive read threads that were pretty bad. some were so bad that, if i had just come to ad and read them , i probably wouldnt come back again. these post are in the minority, but there still there. by the way if ur joking around or polking fun at someone, please say so before things get out of hand. everyone likes a good joke as long as they know its just a joke.
