Doggy_Bot why do you continue to come back here. Anyone who makes a joke about 9/11 is not right in the head. Are you just an immiture brat or have no friends which means you have to bug us.

I believe that I have sworn at someone, a couple of times, in these forums. I don't remember when, but I believe the two who I swore at got banned. I know that the mods could have banned me too, and they would have been right to do so. I am glad that they did not.

All drd can use a Censored Words filter as we have on my site, if a word like this is used (f@@@er) ,the filter changes it to bucker…that would end the problem.
I do not swear as I do not see a need for it to commutate my thoughts to anyone in person or in a post..

    @ireland
After their first post they'll realise that the filter is in place and change letters around, so that the words still sound the same. I would give you an example but i dont wanna get in .... trouble.

I personally couldnt care less about swearing unless its directed at somebody in a negative way, or taken to an extreme, Like 2 per sentance.

Its been said befor, the internet isnt rated G, and thats where AD lives.

Edit= spelling worse than usual. :)

I totally agree with my buddy gear79 here. That's what I usually do, if I see something that needs to be fixed/edited (ie useless thread, multi-posts, piracy/cracking, cussin'/dissin', etc.), then I'll simply PM my cool buddy "creaky" and the problem is usually sorted within 1 - 2 minutes if he's around.

Most of the times, when I see Newbies asking questions like "what the hell is..., what the ffff is ..., how the ffff you backup or rebuild...." at the PS2 forum, I refused to help that fool. My rule is, if one (the individual) needed helps, but his/her behavior is provokingly and or inappropriated when asking the question(s), then I simply ignored the thread or I'll just hollar at my buddy creaky.

i see gwendolin has gotten a lot more back up by getting this thread re-opened.

see gwen, we support you !! lol

anyway, the members that are not mods can help out the mods in various ways. after all, at any given moment, how many mods do you think are online and at the same time?
we as members come to the aide and serve as mini-mods (so to speak)

    ok, enough babbling...

well i guess some of us cant control our selves where the expletives are concerned and as its such a common thing these days does any one really wonder that it is becoming a more common occurence within the posts.

The filter is probably the best solution for the short term but there has to be a more long term solution put in place as it really shows a lot of us in a bad light for condoning such language .

@doggy_bot: i see you havent learnt from your last visit here.Guess your not 12 yet and would have a slightly more mature outlook on things......o'well maybe in yourt next incarnation doggy_bot3

@ every one else who see's this kind of language as appropriate, think you all need to go and wash your mouths out with soap and water. We really do need to have a bit more constraint with how we deal with each other...........

Hehe, sounds like something my nan would say. But at the same time, dead right. We don't need to swear in the forums; We just post in these forums - we don't own them, the finnish Admin team do. And they have laid down the rules -

    Rule # Six -
So, really, nobody has the right to swear, not at all. But it generally gets let off. The reason is, If everyone was banned for swearing, there'd be half the members currently active because people feel they have the right to abuse set rules. Games forums is worst for swearing and personal attackt. With the exception of a few, it is pretty much a nursery (kindergarden) in there...

    Definition

There has always been great difficulty in defining profanity. The U.S. Federal Communications Commission, in response to complaints about a 1973 broadcast comedy routine by George Carlin, called: Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television, ruled that such language could not be broadcast at times of day when there is a reasonable risk that children may be in the audience. The Supreme Court of the United States upheld this act of censorship in 438 U.S. 726 (1978). Despite this definition, people from every race, class and level of education swear. Seventy-two percent of American men and fifty-eight percent of American women swear in public. Most researchers consider these numbers to be in line with other populations; swearing is not restricted to Americans.

    Profane words with multiple meanings

Some words are profane or vulgar in one context but completely acceptable in another. Some examples of this might be the word “damn“, a relatively mild swear word that often in a religious sense is completely acceptable. Likewise, the word "b@@tard" can be a mildly profane insult, but was formally used as a term for a legal status, and is presently used for odd-sized machine parts; the latter two uses are acceptable. Or, the words “a@@” and “b@@ch” can also be considered profane swear words, meaning: “a fool” and “a lewd woman”, or the meaning of the word “a@@” as that of a donkey, and the meaning of the word “b@@ch” as a female canine.

    History

Terms of profanity have historically been taboo words, while others, primarily racial or ethnic epithets that can be considered part of hate speech, have become increasingly taboo. Psycholinguistic studies have demonstrated that profanity and other taboo words produce physical effects in people who read or hear them, such as an elevated heart rate. The offensiveness or perceived intensity or vulgarity of the various profanities can change over time, with certain words becoming more or less offensive as time goes on.

im gonna have to support gwen side on this one, i myself used to use foul language (not too often though) and many people find it offensive, the use of language in the forum, it is one thing to use some sorts of words such as a$$ but its another to use F***.
not only is it offensive to people, they do not like to have to read through swearing for whatever their reasons may be... i myself think that the moderators are doing a fine job keeping the swearing to minimal, but they cant do it without your support, so please keep the potty mouth for your friends outside the forum or in the pms or something but not in the public eye please...

    just adding my 2cents...

    i guess so...

Doggy_Bot, i'll say one last thing, i've not been harsh with you, even in private chats with mods i've been constructive about you, but i shouldn't have wasted my breath.

And to anyone that thinks it's ok to use foul language in threads... [bold]I'll be back[/bold] :)
