Hey all, and new guy XiS111 XiS111, what is that crazy tower of metal on your cpu - is that the monsoon cooler? It looks like you could do a super job of keeping your cpu cool with that thing - but does your side panel go on anymore, or do you run your case with the side off? Your 3dmark6 shouldn't have dropped down in the 4500 range with your AMD - those who are down in that range still have the P4 - see the chart, now on p46 just above. I'll post everybody's updated scores, Sam, Abuzar, and the new guy (what's your first name? - btw, best jpg size on this forum because of the wide left margin, is to scale to 760 pixels wide, as I recall) But before I do, I have to ask you, Abuzar, what did you do to increase your 3dmark by 1000 points? Now you're pushing Sam? You had the x1900gt, right, which fills at about 6500 versus Sam's card (and the gecube) at about 10,500. Your signature still shows the GT? How'd you do it, bud? -rich
lawl.. i believe its a Scythe Ninja-PLUS, it actually is quite a beast, can cool without that fan, i just put it on to blow some cool air on the gecubes backplate, i'll sort some overclocking out after i get the ac5 within the next 10 hours, chilled gfx and cpu Scythe: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/127437
let's see - your last card was $85. And you probably sold that for a profit - so you added another $50 is my guess.
Rich: That's a Scythe Ninja. New 3dmark score @ 3.15Ghz CPU, 663/873 GPU: 6877. It's proving a bit difficult to get my CPU above 3.15, so I'll let you guys know how I get on. Nonetheless I'm happy though, an extra 100 odd marks from a new motherboard isn't at all bad imo.
installed the Zalman 900 today, was as absolute pain, made so many noobie errors >_>; and working with AC5 aswell, idle temps have dropped from 50 to 42degrees for the gfx card, and an amazing 44 from 63 for the CPU. shame no pretty lights came with the cooler
In my experience, you don't want lights to come with the cooler, only low quality stuff seems to come with tacky LEDs pre-fitted. If you want an illuminated tricked out PC, you buy quality components, and then add lighting afterwards, like Lazer LEDs and so on.
Hey, my Zalmand HSF has lights! Its this one: http://www.xoxide.com/zalman-7000b-cu-led-cpu-cooler.html I bought that HSF even before I ever thought about overclocking my 3.2GHz P4. Now, with it at 3.75, I get a load at around 145F-150F. Pretty hot I must say. Oh well, the processor seems to be doing fine. I'll be getting a quad core and water cooling soon, so I dont have to worry!
hehe, my Server has that cooler (the 7000B) but without the LEDs. It's not really that wonderful though. At full speed the fan is irritating, it doesn't cool hugely well and it gathers dust in no time, which is then impossible to clean.
I wish I had known that when I bought it a year and a half ago... I dont mind the sound of it though. All the other fans cover it up, and usually I just forget about how noisy it is when I'm gaming.
It's funny, that's how long I've had mine for. I wanted the Freezer 64 Pro, but I couldn't find it anywhere at the time. It would have been a much better decision...
hm.. something strange, on some rather demanding games, my PC randomly reboots or shuts itself down still even when the temps dont go abouve 70... o_o;;; im pretty much at the stage where im getting pretty pissed off with it >_>; already wasted money on a new 700w psu dual 12v rails, 2 new coolers (the scythe and the zalman 900) and some AC5 gooey stuff.. so... anyone got answers? >_>;
What's your case ventilation like? You say the CPU and GPU aren't overheating, but what about the RAM?
hmm.. RAM temps i dont know, but i've never had problems when i had my 6800 GT in it. As for ventilation atm i've only got a fan on the side of the case atm, damn case ran out of sockets for more fans.. so i leave my case open atm.
A lot of people at the LAN party I'm at say it's really good, so I'll probably get it and try it out.
